Installing Laminate Flooring In Unsquare Room: Easy Way Of Installation

Installing laminate flooring in unsquare rooms is a very easy task but make sure you have to install it with proper technique. If the wall isn't straight and the user will start installing flooring against it, then the whole floor area will look crooked and uneven. The solution for this is to angle-cut the length of the first and last flooring plank for the layout pattern, so the floor is straight even in Unsquare Room.

Easy Way Of Installation Of Laminate Flooring In Unsquare Room

If you have unsquare room and you are wondering how to install laminate flooring in the room, don't worry we are here to help you out. Simply follow the below mentioned way to get the desired result:
  1. Expansion Gap: In this step the user needs to mark the expansion gap by using a chalk to make a line about 1/4 inch out from the starting wall. For the ending wall on the opposite side do the same process. The gap that is created is expansion gap, that allows for movement of the wood in the floor later it will be covered by trim.
  2. Square Measurement: When the flooring wall is not straight enough, that time the user needs to determine how far out of square the walls are, which can be done by measuring the space between the two lines at one end then at the other end of the room. For instance, if one end of the room is 5 feet and the other end measurement is 5 feet and 3 inches this means that room is 3 inches out of square.
  3. Begin: Now the user needs to lay down the first course of laminate floorboards with tongue-and-groove down along the starting wall, the groove side should be facing the wall. Its important to clip the boards end to end together. Atlast cut the last piece as needed with the help of miter saw, but leaving an expansion gap of 1/4 inch.
  4. Out Of Square Measurement: The purpose of this step is to mark out of square measurement, which means user needs to start from the narrow end of the room, then start measurement from the final board end but at the side that faces the wall, mark the measurement half of whatever the user has determined, that is the total amount that the room is out of square. For example if the area is 4 inch out of square, then simply measure in 2 inch from edge of board but from where it faces wall.
  5. Intersect: Here the user needs to mark chalk line on the 2 inch mark at the final edge of the last board. Mark the line to the far end of the board, and then carefully put it right on the corner of end on the side that is closest to the wall but from the last piece. The line that is drawn should run at an angle of about 2-inch mark at one end of the course, exactly to the corner of other end.
  6. Cut The Boards: Keep the boards in the order that they were lined up. Get the circular saw to cut off the marked edge of every board.
  7. Lay The Cutted Board: Now its time to lay down the cutted board in the right place, but here its important to keep the cutted face against the wall, then clip the boards together. At the wider end of the room the course should look slightly thicker but its important that the cut edge of the boards should be in place with 1/4 inch from the wall.
  8. Other Boards: Lay down the rest of the Laminate flooring course by course and snapping all the pieces together at the sides and if needed cut them as required at the ends.
  9. Final Course: At the larger side of the room the user needs to repeat the step of ripping the course at an angle but this time user needs to rip off the tongue side in place of the groove side.
