Steps To Prepare & Use Homemade Laminate Floor Polish
Laminate flooring shine can be maintained by regular mopping with a cleaner suited for the laminate surfaces. Over time, the laminate flooring may lose its shine that can be restored with homemade laminate polish. The user has been restricted to use wax over the laminate as it can create a waxy build-up over the Flooring. The steps to prepare & use homemade polish over the laminate flooring are as follows;
- Vacuum Clean The Flooring: The first step will be to vacuum the flooring in order to remove dirt and dust from it. It has been recommended to use a hardwood flooring attachment with the vacuum in order to get dirt and dust off without scratches. Besides that, the user can remove dust and dirt from the laminate flooring with a broom.
- Use Liquid Cleaner: After that, the user needs to clean the flooring with a liquid cleaner specifically designed for the laminate. Alternatively, the user can prepare homemade cleaner by mixing half cups of water, white vinegar, and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Then, the user needs to spray the prepared cleaner over the laminate flooring lightly and mop the cleaner up immediately. It has been recommended to work over the laminate flooring section by section so the cleaner can be moped before it dries up.
- Prepare Homemade Laminate Polish: The next step will be to prepare homemade laminate polish in a separate spray bottle. The user needs to pour 2 cups of warm water, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar, and few drops of lemongrass, lemon, or orange essential oil(optional) in a spray bottle. After that, the user needs to shake the bottle well to prepare homemade laminate polish.
- Apply Homemade Laminate Polish: Once the polish is prepared, the user needs to spray it over the laminate flooring and mop it up to create a thin film by using a dry clean mop. It has been recommended to polish the laminate flooring section by section in order to get the effective results. Besides that, the user needs to shake the spray bottle regularly during the polishing process.
- Let The Flooring Dry: The last step in the process will be to let the polished surface dry completely before using it again. If required, the user can apply a second coat of polish over the laminate flooring in order to get the desired results.
