How To Replace Office Chair Casters: 6 Easy Steps

6 Easy Steps To Replace The Office Chair Casters

The casters will add the versatility to the office chairs and also allow the chairs to roll on the wheels instead of getting stuck in one place. The users can easily replace the office chair casters at home by following the below-mentioned steps:

Detaching The Pre-existing Caters

  1. Turn: The users need to start by turning the chair to its upside-down and then place the chair head over the surface of the ground so that the chair wheels will float in the air. By doing so the user will get the complete access over the casters that are placed at the chair base.
  2. Detach: Then they need to detach the threaded casters by rotating it in a clockwise direction. The casters that are having the threaded stem will get released in once when the users have twisted it out and they need to keep on repeating it till it comes out completely.
  3. Uninstall: Then they need to uninstall the caster of the grip stem caster by pulling and lubricating it. If it is the grip stem they need to apply the lubricating oil to that spot at that point where the casters meet up with the chair. Then they need to put their one hand over the caster and the other hand over the leg of the chair and then pull it accordingly.
  4. Screwdriver & Prybar: Then they need to use the screwdriver and the prybar if the chair casters won't get budged as many casters are rusted and it won't get pulled out with the hands. Then they need to locate the thickest headed screwdriver and the prybar that is having the nail pulling end.
  5. Push: The users need to push the head of the screwdriver at that point where the casters get aligned with the chair and then turn it accordingly. They need to slowly turn the screwdriver till the casters will move upwards from the surface of the chair and if the casters are not moving then they need to rotate it all round the casters at different angles in order to make it loosen.
  6. Align: Finally They need to align the nail pulling the edge of the prybar over the stem and then gently pull it out
