Method To Get Rid Of Epoxy Resin From Wood

The material that is required for the removal of resin from wood includes goggles, rubber gloves, acetone, heat gun, refrigerant spray, trisodium phosphate, and scraping tool. The heating method is mentioned below for removing epoxy resin from wood:

Using Heat To Remove Resin

  1. Put On Gloves, Goggles, And A Mask: The first step is to protect the skin, this can be done by wearing clothes to cover the skin. When the heat is applied to resin vapors are produced that harm the eyes and lungs. So the customer needs to wear the goggles, mask, and gloves.
  2. Soak The Surface In Acetone: Next step is to drop the acetone on the wooden surface where the resin is present. Acetone gets absorbed into the wooden surface and softens the resin.
  3. Aim A Heat Gun: Now take a heat gun and aim it towards the wood surface for removing the resin. Carefully apply small strokes of a heat gun to the wood surface and do not overheat the wood as the overheating may burn the wood.
  4. Heat Small Areas: Do not heat the entire area of the wood. Applying heat in small segments may result in the easy removal of resin from wood.
  5. Scrape Off Resin: Now take a scraping tool and remove the resin from the wood surface. Continue to apply heat until all the resin is removed from the wood surface.
