Steps To Make Chair Covers For Folding Chairs
Folding chairs are mostly required at family gatherings or events. In case of formal events like a wedding reception, the folding chairs may require covering in order to give them a formal look. The user can make the folding chair covers at home by following the below-given steps:
- Gather Required Materials:
Before making chair covers, the user needs to gather all the material required for the process such as the fabric of choice, sewing machine, thread, Scissors, measuring tape, Brown wrapping paper, Straight pins, and decorative items (optional). - Measurement:
The process of making folding chair covers start at the time of measurement. The user needs to make several pattern pieces in which the first pattern piece gets by measuring the back of the chair up to the back and down the floor by adding 2 extra inches to it. After that, the second pattern piece gets by measuring the length and width of the whole seat by adding an extra inch to each measurement. The third pattern piece gets by measuring from the right back leg across and around the front leg to the left back leg by adding an extra inch to it. The user also needs to measure the seat height from the floor by adding an extra one and a half inch to it which also comes in the third pattern piece. All the measurements need to be transferred on to the brown wrapping paper and cut out a pattern from it. - Cut The Fabric:
The wrapping paper patterns need to be pinned on to the fabric and three fabric pieces for each covering chair has to be cut using scissors. - Sew Short End Pattern Piece First:
The next step in the process will be to sew one short end of the pattern piece first with the back of the pattern piece second. The two pattern pieces meet at a place where the back of the seat meets the back of the chair. The user needs to add half inch seam to similar and right sides of the fabric facing each other. - Sew Three Sides Of Pattern Second:
The next step will be to sew the other three sides of the pattern piece second with the long side of the pattern piece third. This is a place where the skirt of the cover meets the rest of the seat. The user also needs to add half inch seam considering similar and right sides of the fabric are facing each other. - Sew Two Sides Of Pattern Piece Third:
The next step in the process will be to sew two short sides of the pattern piece third with the pattern piece first that covers the whole back of the chair. Here Also, half-inch seam is required along with similar and right sides of fabric need to be facing each other. - Turn The Cover & Place It On To The Chair:
The next step will be to turn the right side of the cover out and place it on to the chair. After that, the user needs to measure the bottom of the hem and pin it followed by sewing it. - Decorate The Cover (optional):
The last step in the process will be to decorate the cover using decorative items brought before according to the likings of the user. This is an optional step which the user can skip as well.
