The steps are given as follows:
- Open And Remove: The first step is to open and remove the flooring boards from the boxes and place the boards in the moisture room till it gets adjusted with the floor. Then fill the gaps by using a leveling compound and if there are high areas then use a belt sander to knock down those areas.
- Hand Saw: The doorjambs are cut with the help of hand saw and slide the floors into the jambs.
- Apply Moisture: Then next step is to apply moisture barrier on the subfloor and preferably foam is used underneath the subfloor which protects the floor and brings a comfortable feel to walk on. The plastic sheet, Kraft paper, or tar paper can also be used.
- Assemble: Before laying the boards on the floor practice to assemble them. The boards have a tongue at one side and groove at another side. These boards are locked with each other on the floor and connected with end to end.
- Baseboards: Put the first board on the floor and leave a gap between the wall and the board. Later these gaps can be filled by using baseboards.
- Connect: Connect the boards with one another from one end to the other end. Then take a handheld cutting tool and crosscut the boards so that it can fit into the gaps.
- Pull Bar: Put the board into the gap and pull it with a pull bar against the last board. The pulling of the board locks the boards with one another.
- Lock: Now the next step is to cut the boards for other remaining courses and put the boards on the floor and block and lock them with one another.
- Cut: Then obstacles like curves and notches can be cut from the jigsaw so that flooring fits properly on the floor surface.
- Install: Last step is to install the baseboards. These baseboards can be installed by using nails and baseboards help to hide the gaps and keep the floor down.
