How To Clean Gloss Painted Doors: Two Easy Parts And Items Needed

Two Easy Parts And Items Needed To Clean Gloss Painted Doors

In order to clean or wash gloss painted doors first collect certain item list and follow the step by step parts afterward. Here is the item list and the two parts to perform this task:

Things You Will Need

  • Rag
  • Soap- Or Ammonia-Based Cleaning Solution
  • TSP
  • Spray Bottle

Part 1: Choosing A Cleaner

  1. Pour: Start your work with a 1-gallon bucket fully filled with warm water. Now you need to pour in an ounce of your dish soap to make a mild cleaner that will easily remove all dirt & grime from your interior painted doors and also from most exterior doors. Also, add a teaspoon of baking soda for more enhanced cleaning. Mix all the ingredients well and then you have to pour the mixture into your spray bottle.
  2. Ammonia: You can also use ammonia as the alternative of dish soap, simply mix 1-2 cups of ammonia per gallon of clean water, depends on the strength of your cleaner you need.
  3. TSP: You just need to mix 1/4 cup of trisodium phosphate for extreme cleaning solution. TSP is a very powerful grease and also the scuff remover, but it is strong enough to dull & even can remove paint. Use this TSP cleaner in a low concentration and when you only need it to remove stain problems like smoke stains, etc.

Part 2: Washing/Cleaning Process

Here are the steps for this process:
  • First of all, you need to dust your door with a dry rag in order to get rid of any loose dirt.
  • Next you need to clean your door with the help of your mild cleaning solution, by using your rag or sponge. Start your work at the top & then work the way down. If your door has panels then you need to start your work with those panels first, then move towards the rails and stiles of your door and then finish your work with the edges.
  • Spot-clean with the help of the TSP solution, if needed. Put your TSP solution in your spray bottle and then test this on the edge of your door. If you are satisfied with the results which come after the testing process, spray it on the stains and then wipe them away with your damp rag.
  • This is your final step, rinse your door with your rag dampened with some clear water after washing it with any type of selected cleaner.
  • This is the warning for this process, never mix the ammonia with any other household cleaners, particularly ones containing the bleach because this combination will release harmful gases.
