  1. Rafter Knobs: The first step is to loosen the rafter knobs that are on both of the awning support arms. There must be a black knob right on the back of each of the awning arm. Loosen these will help the awning arms to move, but be careful not to unscrew them all the way.
  2. Release The Travel Locks: In order to release the travel locks, simply squeeze the support tabs that are on the awning. These tabs actually hold the 2 arms together. On squeeze, there will be a clicking noise meaning that they have been properly released.
  3. Ratchet Mechanism: The ratchet mechanism is actually a directional lever that is located on the end of the awning which is closest to the front of the RV. Using the awning rod, switch the lever in the open position. All RVs that have an awning will have an awning rod as well. Use the awning rod to pull up the strap straight, opening the awning. The user can also use the hands to pull the strap to the rest of the way until the awning is completely extended.
  5. Slide The Rafters: The rafters, or the inner arms must be pushed onto the top of the opposing arms. After the inner arms slide all the way in the position, there will be a noise of click that will lock them. If in case the rafter knobs are loose, then the arms must slide easily.
  6. Tighten The Rafter Knobs: The black knobs that is loosened earlier must now be tightened. To make the fabric taut press down on the awning arms, and then gently tighten the knobs as this will keep the rafters locked in place. It is important to make sure to tighten each side of the awning.
  7. Raise The Awning: Lift the up handle on the arm and then raise the awning to the needed height. If doing this by yourself, then it is the best idea to raise the awning a little at a time from both sides. If having another person for help, then raise both sides at once.
