Materials Required

  • Replacement Awning, Cordless Drill, Screwdriver
  • Rivet Gun, Hammer, Replacement Pop Rivets
  • Vise Grips, Box Or Open Wrenches, Silicone Spray Lubricant
  • Caulk Or Waterproof Sealant, Masking Tape, Razor Knife
  • Permanent Marker, Step Ladder, Cinder Blocks And Tarp

Part I- Remove The Roller

  • Remove The Bolts: Start by removing up the bolts that are holding up the awning over the top of RV. Then get over the step ladder and discover the bolts that hold the awning over the top of the RV. The users can either find the bolts over the awning sides or at the awning metal legs. Then use the electric drill to detach up the bolts. The users are advised to place up the detached bolts in the plastic bag so as to use them again in the future.
  • Remove The Screws: Then detach the screws that hold up the awning fabric with the track. If the users keenly observe then they will notice that the awning fabric is folded within the track. There are many screw sets that are holding up the awning fabric over the tracks so it won't slide around. The users need to use the drill so as to detach these screws and there will be one screw at each track end and the users are advised to save up all the detached screws in the other plastic bag so as to use them again in future.
  • Thrust Out The Legs: The users need to ask the help of the other person so that both can thrust out the lower legs and then blow the awning upwards. Then they need to search at the base of the RV so as to locate the brackets that hold up the legs in one place. By taking the help of the other person the users can easily put out the legs from the brackets. Then they need to widen the legs and make them stand over the ground till the awning gets held upwards.
  • Flip The Lever: Then they need to flick the lever control so that they can widen up the awning to almost 30cm. The users can easily locate the lever control at the rightmost side of the roller tube of the awning. Then they need to flick it so as to fully widen the awning and they can also use the rod of the awning so as to pull away from the awning to almost 30cm from the RV.
  • Cover Up Sharp Edges: The users then need to wrap up the pointed bracket corners with the tape and the users will also find the metal bracket at the roller tube corners. Usually, the bracket corners are very sharp so that is why they need to get covered with the electrical tape or by masking tape. By using the tape at sharp corners the users can easily prevent their RV from the scratches.
  • Remove The Old Fabric: The users then need to use the screwdriver at the track ends so as to open up the track and by this, the users can easily detach the old fabric. Once the users removed all the old fabric then they need to place the roller of the awning over the ground accordingly.

Part II- Detach The Spring

  • Lock The Spring: Start by locking up the spring at the backmost edge of the roller so as to locate the cap of plastic at the tube side. Once the users located the cap they need to pull it off and then place the screwdriver in that hole and by doing so the users can easily lock up the spring.
  • Remove Leg And Bolt: Then the users need to detach the leg and the bolt from the frontmost corner of the tube and they need to use the box wrench to unfasten the bolts that usually hold up the leg at the roller tube.
  • Insert The Bolts: Then the users need to insert back the bolts and then cover up the brackets by using the electrical tape. Then they need to use the vise grip so as to liberate the pressure by flipping the lever and then unrolling the screws. The users then need to mark the lever at the roller of the awning and then after that, they need to detach the grips.
  • Detach The Spring: Then users need to detach the thrush rivets at the endcaps and then carefully detach the spring as well. Once the users detached the spring they need to slide out the spring from the tube and then place both of them over the ground.

Part III-Replacing The Awning Fabric

  • Insert The New Fabric: Once the users detached the pre-existing fabric from the slide they need to spray the lubricant material over the channels that they have marked. Then they need to insert the new fabric directly into the channels that they have marked.
  • Slide The New Fabric: Then they need to slide down the new fabric to the tube and to do so they need to hold up the new fabric to the channel sides. The users need to ask help from the other person so that they can hold up the roller for the use.
  • Roll Up The Fabric: Then they need to roll the fabric to the tube with the help of others.
  • Re-assemble The Awning: Once the users replace the awning fabric they need to reassemble the awning back to its normal position.
