Leather ottomans are utilitarian as well as accomplished, they can behave differently in different seasons like they can be cold in the winter, hot in the summer. As far as their cleaning process is concerned, it is very hard to keep them clean. The life span of your leather ottoman is upto 10-15 years if cared properly, but sometimes your leather ottoman can get wear & tear and then you need to reupholster a leather ottoman. To do this you need to collect the required items before following all the given steps. Here are the list of items and steps for this process:

Things You Will Need

  • Measuring Tape
  • Fabric
  • Straight Pins
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Marker

Steps To Reupholster A Square Or Rectangular(Leather) Ottoman

  1. First you need to place the tape measure on your floor in front of your ottoman. Bring your tape up & over the ottoman to your floor on the back.
  2. Now, add one inch for seam annuity. Repeat from your floor to the right of your ottoman to your floor on the left.
  3. Next, add one inch to the taken measurement. This will give you the length & width of your fabric which you need.
  4. On your ottoman, make sure to center the wrong side of fabric up. Lift 1 corner so that your fabric is level with the top of your ottoman.
  5. Now, you can place a line of uninterrupted pins along the side of your fabric in a uninterrupted line from the top to your floor. Make it close enough to your ottoman in order to make it protected from weather(hot or cold) but not overly tight. Repeat for all three corners, be sure that your fabric is intensify & not pinned too tightly.
  6. Cut off any extra fabric outside of the pins and leave 1/2 inch for a seam annuity. Repeat for all three corners.
  7. Next, turn the bottom of your fabric up 1/2 inch in order to make a hem & then put this hem in place by putting the straight pins horizontal to your fabric’s edge, now you slide them by approach the sewing machine needle.
  8. Now, sew all the corner seams of your ottoman’s slipcover & remove the pins.
  9. Sew the hem of your ottoman cover & remove the pins as you work your fabric towards the needle.
  10. This is your final step, turn the right side of the fabric out before sliping it over your ottoman.
