Steps To Whiten Yellowed Linoleum Floors

Linoleum Floors may turn yellowish with time due to the reaction with previously used cleaning solutions. Linoleum Floors can last for years if properly cared as they are made of natural materials. Old sealant and Ammonia-based cleaners are the major causes by which Linoleum Floors can become discolored. In order to whiten linoleum floors, the user needs to follow the below-given steps:
  1. Preparation:
    Before starting to whiten linoleum floors, the user needs to fill in a bucket with a half-gallon of warm water. Also, the user needs to pour bleach containing cleansing powder in a shallow bowl up to a half inch in depth.
  2. Scrub The Floor:
    After that, the user needs to scrub the linoleum floors with a scrub brush containing both water and cleansing powder. First, the user needs to dip the scrub brush in a bucket of water and let the excess water drip back into the bucket. Then, the user needs to dip the brush in a bowl in order to coat the bristles with cleansing powder. After that, the user needs to scrub the brush on to the flooring in small sections until the entire linoleum floor is scrubbed.
  3. Wipe Down The Floor:
    The next step will be to empty the warm water from the bucket and rinse it well. After that, the user needs to fill the bucket with cool water and then wipe down the floor with a clean cloth dampened in cool water.
  4. Prepare & Use Vinegar Solution:
    After that, the user needs to prepare a vinegar solution by mixing 1-gallon warm water and 1 cup of white vinegar in a bucket. The solution can be used to neutralize the bleach and rinse the linoleum flooring. The user needs to wipe down the floor with a cloth dampened with a diluted vinegar solution.
  5. Dry The Floor:
    The last step will be to dry the floor completely before putting it to use again. In case, the floor is still discolored, the user needs to repeat the above-mentioned steps until the floor gets whitened.
