How To Update Parquet Floors: Steps To Update

Steps To Update Parquet Floors

  1. Missing, Damaged Or Loose Blocks: The first step is to check for missing, damaged or loose blocks.
  2. Clean: The next step is to clean the blocks under the floor as the old parquet floors normally used the Bitumen to it fixed down. The user needs sanding and scraping the area or they can also use the odorless kerosene which will help to remove most of Bitumen.
  3. Freezer: The other way to remove the bitumen is to place the blocks in the freezer that will make the bitumen brittle then it is easy to remove with the scraper.
  4. Underfloor: The underfloor should be properly cleared of the ridges of Bitumen because any residue of the bitumen will badly affect the bonding time of the modern or new adhesive.
  5. Levelling: Now the next step is to level the underfloor, the user can use the acrylic levelling compound to level the concrete floor.
  6. Re- Installing Blocks: Now use the best quality adhesive for reinstalling the blocks, while applying the adhesive wipe off any spillage of the adhesive from the surface of the blocks with the help of the cloth because once dried its harder and difficult to clean it off.
  7. Cut: If in any case there is a need to cut the block then it can be cut with the help of the jigsaw, while in some cases it might be needed to cut the tongue but the user need not worry as the modern adhesive will hold it in right place.
  8. Sanding: The next step is to sand the floor for the even look. Once sanding is done then look for any gaps, in case there is then fill them once the filler is dried then sand again. Before heading to the next step it's important to vacuum the area.
  9. New Finish: Now the last step is to apply the new finish.
