  • 180 Grit Sand Paper
  • Sponge
  • Cotton Cloth

Steps For This Project

  • First of all, you need to sand the surface of your veneer With the help of your hands and have to fold the piece of paper which is 180- grit sandpaper. Now you have to remove the loose fibers and the rough spots on the veneer. You have to sand parallel to the grain only.
  • Now open a can of stain and dip the sponge in it. You have to clean the stain on the surface of the veneer by using the strokes that should be parallel to the grain only. Now cover the stain with a wet coat of stain.
  • Now you have to wipe that stain quickly with the help of cotton cloth in circular patterns. Remember that your work should be done in a quick manner so that the exposure time of the stain should be equal to all the parts of the veneer. Use strokes that are parallel to the grain to wipe the surface. Let it dry for at least 30-40 minutes.
  • Now you have to wipe another coat of stain on this veneer. If you see it lighter or if the stain is streaked, then you have to wait for one hour before applying any topcoat like lacquer.
  • A tip for you, for the cleaning process, you have to use the rubber gloves. Also, use a spray gun for big jobs and take help of cotton cloth to apply the stain.
  • Warning, you have to wear safety glasses and breathing for the prevention and finish the wood or stain in well air-ventilated places only.
