Simple & Easy Way Of Building A 5 Drawer Dresser

If you are looking for a 5 drawer dresser for your home and you don't know how to get it, then you don't need to worry we are here to help you. Instead of purchasing it from the market, you can build it yourself. Simply follow the below mentioned steps carefully and build your desired 5 drawer dresser:
  • Cut Legs: First step is to cut down four 2x2 of 37 inches long legs of the dresser.
  • Side Panels: Now, the next step is to cut down the 2 strips of 3/4 inches of plywood using circular saw or table saw. From the strips, the user needs to cut 2 pieces of about 34 inches long. Drill the pocket holes all along the edges of the plywood panels. Then cut 2 pieces of 2x2 at 17 inches long and then drill pocket holes in both ends. After that secure, the 2x2, plywood panel, and the two legs together to make 2 side panels. Use the pocket holes screws with the 2x2s and with plywood.
  • Attach Side Panels: Cut down 3 pieces of 2x2 at 35 inches long and then drill pocket holes on both the ends. Attach between the side panels and secure the bottom 2x2 right on the front side 3 inch from the ground and the other two 2x2s (one in front, one in back) at 10 inches from the bottom. Use pocket hole screws to hold them.
  • Cabinet Bottom: For the cabinet bottom cut a 2x2 at 17 inches long and then drill the pocket holes on both ends. Attach using pocket hole screws between the two 2x2s from the above step that were secured 10 inches from the bottom. Cut out a piece of 3/4 inch plywood at 17 inches wide x 17 1/8 inches long and then drill the pocket holes along the edge. Place this panel in the opening and attach using pocket hole screws, so that it is flush along the top.
  • Attach Drawer Dividers: In order to make the drawer dividers, cut 3 pieces of 1x2 at 17 inches long and drill a pocket hole on each end. Attach them along the front side of the cabinet. It's important to make sure that the spacing between them is even.
  • Drawer Slides: Now, add 16 inches drawer slides to the cabinet for the 5 drawers.
  • Build A Top: Cut the top for the dresser about 38 inches long and 20 inches deep. The user can use 1 pocket hole and screw to attach the top boards, or can glue them instead. Trim down to the size with the help of a circular saw or table saw. Once the top is cut, then attach to the cabinet with the help of the pocket holes already drilled. Make sure that everything is square when attaching it.
  • Make The Drawers: Make 5 identical drawers before Cutting the drawer sides at 16 inches long and set these to the side. Then, cut 10 pieces at 14 inches long and drill pocket holes on both ends of these 10 pieces. Attach the pieces together with pocket holes and screws to make 5 drawer boxes.
  • Install The Drawers: Now, simply install the drawers onto the slides that is already installed in the cabinet.
  • Attach Drawer Fronts: Cut out pieces of plywood that will fit the drawer openings. It depends on how close the measurements are, they may vary slightly. However, it’s best to cut to fit.
  • Add Back: The user can cut a piece of plywood but should be slightly larger than the cabinet back opening and then simply attach by nail/staple onto the back.
