How To Spray Paint Metal Chairs: Steps To Spray Paint

Steps to Spray Paint Metal Chairs

The easiest and the quickest way to paint metal chairs is to spray paint them by following the below-given steps:
  1. Preparation:
It is important to make necessary preparations before painting metal chairs such as placing the chair on top of the cardboard or newspaper in order to safeguard the surrounding area from paint stains.
  2. Remove Rust & Loose Paint:
The next step will be to scrub rust and loose paint out of the metal chair by using a stiff wire brush.
  3. Sand The Chair:
Once loose paint and rust are removed from the metal chair, the user needs to sand the entire chair with sandpaper or sand block in order to smooth the remaining rough spots. The user need not to sand the bare part of the metal chair as it can damage the metal.
  4. Apply Primer:
Before applying the primer on to the metal chair, it is necessary for the user to wipe down the entire chair with a damp rag and let it dry completely afterward. Once the chair is dry, the user needs to spray prime the metal chair by keeping the spray 12 inches away from the chair. The spray should be applied by sweeping it across the surface in continuous motions. It is necessary to let the primer dry overnight.
  5. Apply Paint:
Once the primer dries, the user needs to spray paint the entire chair using continuous sweeping motions. The second coat of paint should be sprayed after letting the first coat dry for an hour. The user needs to let the paint cure overnight after applying the second coat of spray paint.
  6. Apply Protective Coat:
The last step will be to spray lacquer protective coat on to the entire metal chair in order to give it a shiny finish.
