Procedure To Reupholster A Leather/Dining Chair

  1. Remove: In order to start the Reupholster process, start with removing the existing Reupholster, by pulling out tacks and staples with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Carefully remove all the leather and not to rip the leather as this is used as a template for cutting the new fabric.
  2. Old Batting: Remove the old batting from the arms, cushions, and back of the chair, and at the same time insert the new batting.
  3. New leather: Now lay the old leather over the new leather, and cut down all the sections according to old pieces but leaving 2 to 3 inches of overhang.
  4. Back: Laydown the leather on the back of the chair, after that tuck all the sides of the leather into the frames tightly. Then simply staple the fabric in the same way as its previous leather was stapled, then lay the leather over the seat of the chair.
  5. Arm: At last drape the fabric over the arm of the leather chair, then Wrap the loose ends around the back of the arm, so that all the exposed areas will be covered.

How To Reupholster A Leather Couch?

The steps to reupholster a leather couch are given below:
  1. Remove Old Leather: In order to start the process begin with removing the old leather, simply flip the couch upside down to remove the staples with the help of the flat-head screwdriver, please don't rip the pieces as they are used as the template for the new sections.
  2. New Leather Fabric: Now place the old leather piece on the new leather fabric and cut them accordingly with the help of the electric scissors.
  3. Back Piece: Now place the back piece on the couch and staple it.
  4. Pull: Now carefully pull the leather fabric tightly down, and place a staple on the inside of each corner, so that it will hold into the right place.
  5. Arm: Now Place each arm piece onto the sofa and staple it at the right place, Simply on the inside and outside back.
  6. Bottom Front: Now place the bottom front side of the couch and then staple it into place by simply flipping the leather on the top and fixing it along the front edge.
  7. Seat Cushions: Then cut the leather pieces for the seat cushions, then simply Sew a 5/8-inch seam along the sides and front, but leaving the backside open.
  8. Hook And Loop Tape Strips: On both sides of the back opening sew hook and loop tape strips, then place the foam in the cushion covers.
  9. Hammering: Complete the process by lightly hammering.

How To Reupholster A Leather Couch With Attached Cushions?

  1. Remove Staple: Start the process by removing all the old fabric, turn the sofa upside down to remove all the visible staples with a staple puller.
  2. Cut: Now cut the new leather fabric according to the removed one but cut little extra, then drape it over the couch. Then start with the cushions and tuck down the fabric tightly all around the cushion and also into the crack between cushion and back of the couch.
  3. Stretch: Stretch the leather furniture tightly and then staple it to the wooden frame.
  4. Back, Arms And Front Of The Couch: Now continue the stretching of fabric to the back, arms and front of the couch, then Finish the attachment by stapling to the base of the couch Finish the attachment of the fabric by stapling it to the base of the couch every four inches around the base of the couch.
