How To Repair Worn Leather Couch/Sofa Furniture?

Leather Couches are very much durable but after years of use, they show signs of wear & tear in the form of peeling, cracking, or thinning. It has been recommended by the experts to actively maintain the leather couch. In case, the leather couch is already worn, it can be restored by the below-given steps:
  1. Wipe Down The Leather Couch:
    First, the user needs to wipe down the worn leather couch using soapy water in order to remove body oils, dirt, and various other elements from it. The user needs to make sure that no element is left on the leather couch due to which repairing process can fail.
  2. Use Leather Prep Solution:
    After that, the user needs to rub the leather prep solution over the worn leather couch using a soft cloth in order to open the pores of the leather. The user needs to work in small sections and let the leather dry for about 30 minutes to one hour before proceeding forward.
  3. Sand The Leather Couch:
    The next step will be to lightly sand the leather couch making sure that the leather doesn't get damaged deeply. The light sanding is recommended so that the leather can absorb the product. The user needs to avoid sanding over the seam of the couch so that the seam won't fray. Once sanded, the user needs to clean the dust from the leather couch using a damp sponge and let the leather dry completely afterward.
  4. Apply Color Coats:
    After that, the user needs to apply a mist of the color coat with a spraying apparatus. The user needs to apply long & even strokes of color in order to avoid missed areas and overlapping. Once the first coat is dry, the user can apply several more coats but allowing each coat to dry before applying the next coat. Once Colored, the leather couch should be left undisturbed for about 48 hours.
  5. Apply Leather Conditioner:
    The last step will be to apply a leather conditioner on to the leather couch with a soft lint-free cloth. The user needs to apply leather conditioner into the crevices and cracks of the leather couch as well. Once done, the user needs to let it cure the furniture for about 2 hours before putting the leather couch to use again.
