How To Restore A Chesterfield Sofa: Three Easy Steps

Three Easy Steps To Restore A Chesterfield Sofa

The chesterfield sofa is usually having the two colors on their surface, one is the light base tone and the other one is the semitransparent black tone over the top surface. The top black tone is often removed by the professionals so as to create the aging effect over the sofa surface and with the long span of time the blacktop tone will get rubbed away properly and this will eventually result in the tired look of the chesterfield sofa. The users can easily restore the chesterfield sofa at home by following the below-mentioned steps:
  1. Clean The Surface: Start by cleaning the dust and the debris particles from the surface of the sofa by using the concentrated sofa cleaner. The users need to pour a few drops of the cleaner on to the soft rag and then rub this rag gently over the sofa areas. Then they need to rinse the sofa by using the solvent sofa cleaner and now the chesterfield sofa is completely ready for the light base tone that will easily re-color the aged areas of the sofa.
  2. Apply The Leather Repairing Compound: The users then need to use the leather repair so as to fill up the cracked or the worn areas by using the blue sponge. The users are advised to apply the leather filler for almost 3 times so as to completely fill up the cracked or the worn areas. Then they need to use the airbrush so as to spray the even color all over the affected areas of the sofa and once the base tone is dried completely then after that the users need to apply the sealant layer respectively.
  3. Make The Color Mixture: If the users repeat using the spray of the airbrush then it can cause the darker top tone then they can make their own top tone by simply diluting the water and the repair compound. Instead of the water, the users can also use the 30% of the water build sealant. Then they need to apply this mixture to the surface of the sofa and then make this coat dry by using the hairdryer. Once this mixture layer is dried completely then the users need to apply the sealant layer. Once the sofa is restored completely then it is advised to the users to allow the chesterfield sofa to cure completely for almost 36 hours.
