How To Remove Venetian Blinds: Two Easy Methods Of Removing Venetian Blinds

Two Easy Methods Of Removing The Venetian Blinds

It is easy to remove the Venetian blinds at home with the help of a few simple tools. The method to be used to take down the blinds depends on whether the blinds have a standard or spring-loaded brackets. Procedure for both the methods are mentioned below:

Method 1: For Standard Brackets

  1. Lift The Blind Blades: Lift the blind blades with the drawstring all the way up. Pull the drawstring in the down direction and away from the blind with the help of hand so that the blades will go up and lock into the place. Once all the blades are all the way up, then let go of the drawstring.
  2. Lift Up The Bracket: Lift up the brackets with the help of a screwdriver on each side of blind. The standard brackets usually have a piece that clips in the place on the front-face side of the Venetian blind. Start from one of the brackets, carefully wedge the tip of the screwdriver in the clipped piece, and the blind. After that, pull the screwdriver away from the Venetian blind which will release the clipped piece and also open up the bracket. Repeat the same process on the other bracket.
  3. Slide The Blind: Hold the blinds with both of the hands and gently pull it yourself. Now the brackets are lifted up, in this way the blind must easily slide out as well as away from the window. After the blind is off, then set it aside.
  4. Unscrew The Brackets: Now from the window, with a drill having a Phillips drill bit, unscrew the brackets. Press the reverse switch on the drill as this way the bit will spin in the counterclockwise direction. Then, place the bit in one of the screws that are attaching the brackets with the window and unscrew them. Once the brackets are unscrewed, keep them in a small plastic bag so that they can be easily available when needed. Repeat the same process to the screw on another bracket.

Method 2: For Spring-Loaded Brackets

  1. Pull The Blind Blades: Hole the drawstring and then pull it down as well as away from the Venetian blinds. The blind blades must lift upward direction and then lock in the place right at the top of the window.
  2. Look For Spring-loaded Brackets: The brackets must look like small metal squares which are resting right on the top of the Venetian blind. If the user is having trouble in locating one, then check towards the ends of the blinds.
  3. Release The Bracket: Keep both the hands, one on each side of the bracket, on the blind. Push in towards the window with the help of hands. Then, after that rotate the top of the blind down toward yourself so it will be released from the bracket. There will be a clicking noise as it releases.
  4. Release The Other Bracket: After the above step release the other bracket using the same process as used to release the first one. Then, hold the blind and pull it away from the bracket as well as from window.
  5. Take Down The Blind Brackets: Use a drill with a Phillips drill bit to take down the Venetian blind brackets. Set the drill bit in the counterclockwise direction by pressing down the reverse switch. Then, place a bit on the screw that is connecting one of the brackets with the window, unscrew the screw from the bracket. Repeat the same process for the other brackets.
