Two Easy Methods Of Cleaning The Faux Wood Blinds

Faux wood blinds are actually made up of composite wood-like material and the vinyl. Like all the window blinds, faux wood blinds also get dusty over time but they are quite easy to clean because they are so durable. The methods for cleaning the faux wood blinds are mentioned below:

Method 1: Dusting

  1. Dust Once A Week: With the help of a feather duster or microfiber cloth dust at least once in a week. For daily dusting, start the process by closing the blinds fully then wipe with a feather duster or the dry microfiber cloth over each of the slats, start from the top corner and then work down to the bottom slat. Open up the blinds once again and then close them again in the opposite direction use the cloth for dusting the slats on the other side.
  2. Vacuuming: For vacuuming fix the brush attachment to the hose of the vacuum cleaner. Close down the blinds. Gently hold the blinds with one hand, and vacuum with another hand. Start the process from the top corner and then run the brush from one side to the other side of the slat.
  3. Flip The Blinds: After working to the bottom of the first side is done, then flip the blinds so they are now facing the opposite direction. Start the job at the top again with the help of a brush attachment and then work the way down to the last slat. After all the slats are cleaned, lift the blinds up and then vacuum all along with the window sill under them.
  4. Remove Stubborn Dust: Sometimes the dust is too thick to clean it away with the help of a feather duster. In these situations, make a solution of a small amount of warm water with a mild detergent and mix well. After that slightly damp microfiber cloth with the solution, it is advisable to don’t soak the cloth and wipe it over each slat.

Method 2: Cleaning Grime And Stains

  1. Cleaning Solution: Make up a cleaning solution of the clean warm water and the mild detergent. After preparing the solution then take a clean microfiber cloth and dip in the solution. Wring out the excess water of the cloth, it should not be soaked in the solution. Close the blinds in the face down direction. Start from the top corner, then run the wet cloth from one side to the other side of the slat.
  2. Flip The Blinds: When the wiping cloth gets dirty, that time rinse it out in the bucket of cleaning solution and again wring out the excess water and continue wiping until the bottom slat. After that flip the blinds to the opposite direction and then repeat the same process again.
  3. Disinfect Blinds: The white vinegar is an excellent option which will efficiently disinfect the blinds. Simply pour a small amount of the vinegar in a bowl. Then put on a pair of clean cotton gloves or a clean pair of socks then dip the hand into the vinegar.
  4. Wipe The Slats: Start from the top corner and then wipe from one side of the slat. Move down to the next blind and continue the same process. Flip the blinds on the opposite side and continue the process. Start working with one glove until it is dirty. Remove it and then leave it to soak in the vinegar while using another glove/sock.
  5. Dry The Blinds: With the help of a clean microfiber cloth dry the blinds. Use a clean microfiber cloth to blot the slats until they will become completely dry. It is important to make sure to dry both the sides of the slats.
