Slime is a cool and fun product for our children but it's not good when it gets on your carpet because your home carpet is precious and useful item. If in case your carpet gets affected with slime and you want to remove slime from your carpet without using vinegar then this article is for you, you can use other carpet cleaning products instead of vinegar, you just need to follow the given methods with steps to remove slim from your carpet.

Method 1: Removing The Slime

  1. Scrape Away: First you need to scrape away excess slime, if any. If there is a giant blob of slime on the carpet then remove as much as possible. Scoop the excess away with a scrape or spoon it off with the help of a knife, start your work from the outside to the center of affected area.
  2. Vacuum: Once done, vacuum the area that is most affected by slime. Using your vacuum can also help you to remove the slime and can get the stain of slime. Vacuum the affected area in disparate directions to suck up the dried slime as much as possible. You may need to use an upright vacuum or a handheld variety vacuum cleaner.
  3. Choose Your Cleaning Solution: Rubbing alcohol, citrus solvent, goo remover types of cleaner can all be used to get rid of slime & stains from your carpet. White vinegar can also work for removing the minor stains from carpet (optional suggestion). Choose the clean product which you like the most.
  4. Put On Gloves: Once selected now, put on gloves & then spot-test your selected cleaner. Wear gloves to protect your hands because the slime contains dye & chemicals. Be sure to test the selected solution on an invisible spot before treating the stain of your carpet.

Method 2: Treating The Stain

  1. Apply: Cleaning solution firstly needs to be applied to your carpet. Rubbing alcohol & WD-40 can be sprayed or poured directly on your carpet because this will not harm the carpet backing. Be sure to impregnate the entire area. Nonetheless, if you are using goo remover or citrus solvent then you need to pour the product on a towel & press it into your carpet. You need to only use enough products to wet the slime & stain. This keeps your cleaning product from soaking through & dissolving the carpet backing.
  2. Soak: Once done, let your solution soak for at least 10 to 15 minutes but important to allow your cleaning solution time to soften dried slime & infiltrate the carpet fibers to remove the color.
  3. Wipe Away: Next, wipe away the slime & stain with the use of an old towel. After 10 to 15 minutes, use an old paper towel or kitchen towel to wipe away the slime & the stain from your carpet. You shouldn’t even need to do much scrubbing. Toss the towel out when you’re done. If needed then repeat the process.
  4. Rinse: Now, rinse the affected area with water(hot). Wet an old towel with water (hot) and then wring out the excess water. Blot your carpet with the towel to remove the cleaning solution & any leftover slime from your carpet.
  5. Remove: Remove any extra liquid and allow your carpet to dry entirely. Press your dry towel into the carpet to soak up the liquid as much as you can. Then, allow the affected area to air dry entirely.
