How To Remove Paint Splatters From Wood: Methods To Remove

Methods To Remove Paint Splatters From Wood

The paint can be of two types i.e. oil based and water based. In order to remove both types of paint splatters from wood, the user needs to follow the below-given methods:
  1. Remove Fresh Oil-based Paint:
The user needs to remove fresh oil-based paint from the wood by wiping it off with a clean rag dampened with mineral spirits. First, the user needs to dip a clean rag into the mineral spirits and soak it well. It has been recommended by the experts to soak the area of the rag which the user plans to bring in contact with the paint splatter. After that, the user needs to wipe off the paint splatters with a damp portion of the rag. During the process, the user can rinse & re-soak the rag until the entire paint splatters get off the wood. Once the paint splatters are removed, the user can dry the wood with a second dry rag.
  2. Remove Dried Paint:
The dried paint from the wood can be removed with boiled linseed oil. First, the user needs to soak a clean rag in boiled linseed oil and then press the rag against the paint splatters and hold it over each splatter for about 30-60 seconds. The step allows the linseed oil to soak into the paint. Once the paint softens, the user needs to wipe it off with the same rag containing boiled linseed oil. At last, the user needs to dry the wood, once the entire paint splatters are off it by using a clean dry rag. In case, the user is unable to wipe off the paint with a rag once it is softened with boiled linseed oil, he can scrape it off carefully by using a putty knife.
  3. Remove Fresh Latex Paint:
Latex is a water-based paint that can be removed from the wood by using a water soaked soft rag. First, the user needs to soak a clean soft rag in warm water and wring out excess liquid from it. After that, the user needs to scrape the paint off by wiping the rag over the paint splatters. The user can rinse & re-soak the rag during the process several times and at last, he can dry the wood by using a dry rag.
  4. Remove Latex Paint With Denatured Alcohol:
In case, the above-mentioned step doesn't remove the latex paint splatters from the wood, the user needs to replace warm water with denatured alcohol. First, the user needs to damp a clean rag with denatured alcohol without making the rag dripping wet. After that, the user needs to pass the rag over paint splatters until they are removed completely. During the step, if required, the user can rinse and re-soak the rag as well. At last, the user needs to dry the wood by using a clean dry rag.
