1.Cleaning: Clean all the surface using the simple household cleaner that is recommended.
2.Gaps/ Cracks: The gaps and cracks are required to be filled using the wood putty. Allow the putty to dry for nearly 30 to 90 minutes.
3.Sanding: Sanding the surface using the 120- to 220-grit sandpaper must be done on the surface to make it smooth and even. The sanding should be done in the circular motion.
4.Wipe Off: Wipe off the surface with damp rag cloth to remove all the residue.
5.Paint: Applying the white paint on the furniture surface using medium sized paint roller is recommended to get the enhanced surface.
6.Water Based Primer: The white water-based primer needs to be applied over the paint in order to adhere it well.
7.Let It Dry: Allow the primer to dry for thirty minutes. Apply a second coat of primer if needed.
8.Water Based Paint: Apply the water-based paint over the surface using even coats and allow the dry time of 30 -60 minutes in between each coat.
9.Water Based Varnish: Once the paint is completely dried apply the water-based paint over the furniture piece to make it shiny again.

The best way to paint the varnished furniture without sanding is to use the liquid sander deglosser. The steps are mentioned below:
1.Remove Hardware: Before application of the liquid sander, deglosser make sure to remove all hardware and drawers if any from the furniture.
2.Apply: The liquid sander deglosser needs to be applied on the wooden surface using a paintbrush
3.Wait: Let it soak into the wood for 15 minutes.
4.Wipe Off: Wipe Off the deglosser with the help of the lint-free cloth to make the surface ready for prime and paint.
5.Oil/ Latex Paint: Apply oil or water-based latex paint over the surface and its done.
