6 Ways To Install Kitchen Cabinets

Are you going to add cabinets in your kitchen? then here are the 6 easy ways to perfrom this task yourself.

1st Way: Preparation

  • First of all you have to sake the beginning preparations for your kitchen cabinets installation project.
  • Next, you have to carefully mesure & plan your space, if you are going to replace the existing kitchen cabinets then you may want to use them as a patterm in you kitchen. You may also prefer to make over a new layout to better suit your purposes.
  • Now you need to obtain all your supplies & materials for the project. You can make a list of your items and supplies but do not forget screws to screw the kitchen cabinets to the walls & shims with which to level the kitchen cabinets.
  • Paint the room & replace the flooring if you are going to. It is not indispensable to run the flooring under kitchen cabinets but for some type of floorig materails, it is easiest to do the floor while your kitchen cabinets are out.
Don't replace baseboards untill after the cabinets are installed. If you going to install tile or wood floor then consider the thickness of your floor material when your decide whether it should go under your kitchen cabinets.

2nd Way:Hanging Upper Cabinets

  • The first aspect of your installation process should be the upper kitchen cabinets. This is so you will not need to work over the lower cabinets to do so.
  • Now, assemble your kitchen cabinets, but do not put the doors on yet. Most modular kitchen cabinets come with instructions & go unneurotic just like the kit bookcases. Take enough time to be sure that your kitchen cabinets are assembled as securely, squarely & evenly as you can.
  • Use a stud finder to locate & mark the locations of the studs in walls. Plumb down from the ceiling & use a measuring tape to mark the height of cabinet brace or rail you will adhere through. You can simply tap a small nail through it to locate the studs. When found one, measure either 16 or 24 inches (40.6 or 61.0 cm) to find other studs in wall, since these are typical stud spacings.
  • Start on one end or in a corner & install your upper cabinets. Consists of screwing a support, or cleat, to wall at an befitting height that allows you to hang the cabinets on the cleat.

3rd Way:Installing Lower Cabinets

  • Begin your work on the lower cabinets once the upper cabinets have been completed carefully.
  • Mark the locations of studs for the lower cabinets & then bring in the cabinets & set them into place.
  • Do a test fit & if the cabinets are backed then make any cutouts necessary for electrical outlets and plumbing hookups.
  • Level the top of your cabinets by shimming under & behind them. Remember that you will install a counter top on the cabinets, so you want this moderately level & all the joints to be flush. Look at the visual aspect of the cabinet fronts & be sure those are even.
  • Screw the lower cabinets to your wall. You can often screw right through the shims.

4th Way:Counter Tops

  • Your counter top should be the next task once the insatalltion of cabinets have been completed.
  • Test fit the counter top. Cut it to length if required & cut out the sink opening & the opening for the stove (hob) if it you want. You have to cut the counter top short so that it will set in if it is betwixt 2 walls. If you allow a 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) on the overall length, you can caulk the ends after it is installed.
  • Place your counter top on top of your lower cabinets and then crew it in from underneath, remember the screws you use are not so long that they will break through with the material to the top.

5th Way:Caulking

  • Begin the work on caulking once the counter top has been finished sucessfully .
  • Simply, apply caulk around the sink cutout & lower the sink into place. Check the fit & location and then secure it into place with the brackets underneath. Apply caulk around the rim of sink.
  • Apply caulk around the edges of your counter top & betwixt the backsplash and the wall.

6th Way:Final Steps

  • Finally you need to complete these final steps to finish installing your kitchen cabinet.
  • Install your stove in a similar fashion, if it is a range top model.
  • Install the cabinet doors and hardware, and adjust the hinges so that the doors hang properly on the cabinet frame.
  • Bring in & reinstall any other appliances you removed during your re-modelling project. Now finished.
