5 Easy Steps & Items Needed To Install Counter top

If your old counter top is damaged or you want to install a new counter top over the old one then you need to collect the given items before following the mentioned steps. Here are the item list and steps for this process:

Items Needed

  • Compass
  • Belt Sander
  • Silicone Caulk
  • Miter Clamp Kit
  • Wrench

Steps

After getting all the given items, now follow the given steps in order to install your counter top:
  1. Compass: First you need a compass in order to straighten the edges of your counter tops. Place your new counter top where the old one is installed. Take the part of your new back splash that gaps farthest from the wall & set a compass to this width. Now you can draw a line along the full back edge of your back splash while keeping this compass set to this width.
  2. Sand: After following the previous step now you have to sand the edge of your counter tops with the help of a belt sander. Get Rid Of the counter top pieces and then use a belt sander to sand the edge of back splash all the way to the line which you drew in previous step.
  3. Glue: Next you need to glue the edges of your counter top by using the caulk. Simply apply some thin bead of silicone caulk to your counter top edges which will be placed next to each other. Press all the edges together for respective seconds, or according to the caulk’s instructions. Once all the counter top pieces have been glued & pressed together successfully then you need to set your complete counter top back in place.
  4. Miter Clamps: Once done, Clamp & tighten miter clamps. Make sure your counter top is flush against the wall and then use a miter clamp kit to clamp & hold your counter top in place. You can use the wrench to tighten this miter clamps farthest from the back splash first & then tighten the miter clamps closest to the back splash.
  5. Seal The Seams: This is your final step, you need to seal the seams with caulk. Simply grab the silicone caulk to fill all the seams betwixt the wall and back splash. This will help to keep the counter top in place.
