Easy Steps To Fix/Repair A Stripped Table Leg
The users can easily repair the stripped table leg by following the below-mentioned steps:
- Swing The Table: Firstly the users need to swing the table towards its upside-down area so that the broken leg of the table can be operated easily. The users need to place the table item over a flat surface and if they find out that the leg is already detached from the table then at that moment they need to remove all the pre-drilled nails from the table leg.
- Trim The Loose Fragments: The users then need to trim away all the loose fragments or any kind of debris that is somehow attached with the leg by using the chisel and If they found out that the leg is somehow still attached with the table then at that moment they need to use the putty knife and gently place it inside the cracked area to clean up all the loose wooden particles accordingly.
- Toughen The Broken Leg: Use the small-sized matchstick and place it inside the broken hole of the table that has been damaged and by placing the matchstick into the hole the leg will get properly attached with the table. Then users need to break the matchstick on the top of the hole and then place the leg in the correct position. Then bend the leg in the clockwise direction so that the leg will get properly fitted with the table. The users need to repeat the same procedure while tightening the screws that might be responsible for the striped legs.
- Use The Wood Glue: The users then need to apply the wood glue across the inside areas of the broken leg with the help of the putty knife or the utility knife. Carefully try to place all the broken pieces of the furniture item and then tightly wrap the masking tape around the leg so as to keep the table leg in one exact place. Then allow the wood glue to dry for one complete day before detaching the masking tape or the clamps as well.
- Use The Dowel: If the users found out a hole in the surface of the table that cannot get fixed with the wood glue then at that moment they need to use the dowels. The users then need to insert a dowel straight into the broken leg of the table so that the broken leg will get strong support. Then they need to insert the 1-inch long nail to the affixed dowel and then apply the wood glue to the dowel so that the dowel will get properly fixed with the table. Allow the wood glue to dry completely for few hours in the open air before using the table again.
