The particleboard is actually a construction material that is mainly used behind the cabinet veneers, counterparts and flooring. The main pros or advantages of using the particle board over plywood or any other medium-density fiberboard are as follows:
- It has low cost as compared to medium-density fiberboard.
- It is light in weight which means that furniture made from these boards are very easy to move from one place to another.
- The particleboard is Pre- laminated which means it increases the beauty and durability of the board. This also helps to reduce the overall cost as for plywood the customers need to buy laminated sheets separately.
But some times the screws that are under outward stress can easily break away from particleboard, frequently bringing out a large chunk of the Particleboard with them, now in order to replace the screw the user needs to fill the hole first so that it will be capable of holding the screw again.
Easy Steps
The user can use the below-given steps to fill the stripped screw hole in particle board:
- Cleaning: The first step is to clean the hole with the help of the chisel, this will help to remove all the splintering or loose wood. In case the hole is very small for the chisel that time use the drill or even a screwdriver.
- Filler: Once the hole is cleaned now it is time to use the filler like epoxy or auto body filler. Put some filler on the flat surface and mix well with the hardener according to the products information.
- Wooden Toothpicks: Now use the wooden toothpicks to fill all the small holes. Try to fill all the small holes then carefully remove them and put some filler on to its ends then carefully replace them in the holes and fit them in the holes, leave until filler dries, then cut the ends of toothpicks. Now the user can easily drive the screws back in holes.
- Larger Holes: In case, of the larger holes use the putty knife to fill the filler, while filling the filler put some pressure so that filler fully goes into the affected area then let it dry completely before driving screws back.
