The users can easily adjust the cabinet doors at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-described procedure:

Materials Required

  • Piece Of Cardboard
  • Cover Of Matchbox
  • Screwdrive

Step I- Adjusting the Flush Mount Hinges

  • Push The Door: Start by pushing the closed door by using the fingers so as to let the cabinet door to spring back and then open. By doing so the users will find out that the cabinet door gets failed to close either at the base or at the top and this indicates that one of the door hinges is bent and that is causing the difficulty while opening the cabinet door. Then they need to select the door hinge on the door end that is closed accordingly.
  • Fold The Cardboard Or Matchbox Cover: Then the users need to fold up the cardboard piece or the cover of the matchbox that is having the exact thickness double times. Then open the cabinet door and then place the cardboard piece or the cover of the matchbox in between the cabinet door and side just above the defected hinge and then close up the door.
  • Repeat The Process: Then they need to open the cabinet door and then detach the cover of the matchbox and then close the door again. If in case the user finds out that the cabinet door is not closed then they need to again place the folded cardboard piece or the cover of the matchbox in the cabinet and then close the door. Then they need to open the cabinet door and then detach the cover and check again the condition of the hinge and if the problem still persists then the users are advised to repeat the procedure almost 3 times. This technique will help in affixing the bent hinge and to bring it in its original position.

Step II- Adjusting The Internal Spring Hinges

  • Open The Door: Start by opening the door of the cabinet and then pushing it so as to make it shut again. If in case the door of the cabinet fails to get completely closed or does not stay closed then this might be the loose spring tension problem.
  • Adjust The Screws: Then they need to open the cabinet door and make it remain open with the one hand and when the door is kept open then it will easily expose the 2 screws on the hinge plate and these screws are somehow recessed with the hinge body. Then the users need to use the screwdriver and then turn both of the screws in the clockwise direction so as to add more tension to the innerspring. Then they need to examine the door and if the problem still persists then the users are advised to turn the screws to the one-quarter direction till the time the door won't get closed properly.
  • Push The Door: Then slightly push the door and if the cabinet door shut hard or bounces back and then gets closed then it might be having the much tension problem. The users then need to turn the screws in the one-quarter or in the counterclockwise direction so as to examine the door. When the users find out that the door is closed down with the proper tension and is not bouncing back when it is closed then it indicates that the door tension is properly adjusted.
