Kitchen cabinets are a kind of furniture product used in kitchen area of the home that is generally made for storage of food, cooking utensils, dishes for table service, etc. Commonly the term kitchen cabinet denotes in-built kitchen installation made on floor or on the wall. Cabinet may be of two types face-frame or frameless in construction. The kitchen cabinet provides you a good way to keep all the things hidden in the kitchen. If you want to measure your kitchen cabinet, then simply follow all the below mentioned steps carefully:
  1. The First thing is that you have to draw a sketch of your kitchen using white or graph paper. Make marks on the sheet where you have to install the cabinet, windows and other appliances. The height of your kitchen also needs to be checked. Now take a plank of wood on the floor where you plan to install the cabinets. You can use a level to check whether the plank is flat or not.
  2. The Next step is that you have to mark the area where the fewest shims are needed. Now remove the plank and measure it from that spot to the ceiling. Remember to mark it first on the white paper and do the same with the installation floor. You have to measure the width of every wall as well. Same with the corners as you need to measure them also.
  3. You can take the measurement from 91 cm up. Note down any gaps in the walls created by things like arches and doorways. Also, you have to take the measurements of those objects which are connected to the walls. You can also check the space that is taken by the things with the help of measuring tape. Note you have to mark it on the paper.
  4. Now find the length and depth of the cabinet. You can use a measuring tape to check the height of every cabinet from bottom to top, even you can also check the depth of your cabinet from front to back. Make sure that you also measure toe kicks, frameless doors, and countertops. Always remember that if a cabinet looks like a single unit then it may be made up of multiple cabinets which have their own width.
  5. You have to measure the cabinet's interior also. It will be slightly smaller than outside that's why you have to find each cabinet's interior length and width. You have to do the same with the exterior. This thing is important if you want to install shelves or mirror inside the cabinets.
  6. Now you have to check the measurement of the cabinet appendages. It depends on the cabinet's design as it also comes with some additional things like toe kick, frameless door or the countertop. The measurements which you already take in the initial stage will include this appendage and the height, width and depth.
  7. Finally check the distance betwixt your cabinets and other things. If you think that you have to add or remove, replace or extending your kitchen cabinets, so the first thing is that you have to measure the distance betwixt it with the help of measuring tape.
