Easy Steps To Convert Crib Into A Toddler Bed

A toddler bed is a kind of bed that is specially made for kids especially infants. These are commonly used in western countries like USA, Europe, UK, etc. If you have a crib available at your place and you want to convert it into a toddler bed, you can do so very easily. You simply need to follow all the given steps carefully in order to achieve the desired result:
  • You can save your money by converting your youngster's bed into a toddler bed with the help of crib. The simplest method to make the crib is by using the guardrail. You can trim the sides of guardrail so that you can easily make the railing toddler.
  • You have to choose the guardrail. Its rails should be lower and shorter than the sides of the crib. A toddler should get in and out without taking the help of others and the rails should be strong so that it prevents your child from the accidental rolling out while they sleep. Best is a universal toddler because its rails contain metal brackets and screws. So you can also get rails attached to the toddler bed.
  • Now get rid of one side of the crib. Use a screwdriver in order to remove all the screws but remember here you have to hold one side of the crib. Model and manufacturer vary most of the time. So you have to check the manual carefully and you will see many screws from the left as well as the right sides of the crib.
  • Mostly you have to remove only one side of the crib. If you remove both sides then place the toddler's one side against a wall. Note here you can remove only the convertible style cribs. You can not remove the sides of stationary cribs.
  • Now you have to do work on the bottom slats of the bed. Remove the bedding for installing the guardrail. The dimensions of the bed will not change when you convert it into the toddler bed. So you can easily use the same mattress and sheets which you used before.
  • Now you have to attach the brackets into the rail. You need to place one L- bracket, fit them into each rail post. You need screws and screwdriver to attach the brackets into the posts. Usually guardrail kit consists of L- brackets and screws. But if you need it separately you can easily get it at any hardware store. You have to choose 2 inches or 3 inches of corner brackets with four mounting holes and 1-inch head screws. Now you have to place the bracket in such a way that the foot of the bracket lies flush with the bottom of that post. You need to secure the bracket with the help of two screws.
  • Now position the rail and lift the guardrail. You have to position it over the bare side of the bed. You have to hold the rail and attach the brackets and the end post with two separate slats. You have to leave some space between the rail and the headboard and the same space from the footboard. With the help of this space, you can easily place your toddler in and out of the bed.
  • Now you have to fix the rail to the bed. Hold the rail carefully and insert the two screws from the holes of each bracket. Here you have to keep the position of the bracket down while installing the screws. Make sure that you tightly install the screws otherwise screws will be loose. After installing, the guardrail should not move and try to wiggle it.
  • When you see the guardrail is in place, then make the bed. Use mattress and cover it with sheets, blankets, pillows as needed. Your toddler bed is ready to use now.
