Easy Steps To Assemble A Crib
There are so many types and brands of a crib as most of them have the same functional pieces. But some specifications may vary between the brands and the styles. Mostly all the guidelines to assemble a crib are the same. You can safely assemble a crib with less effort. Here are some easy steps in order to assemble a crib by yourself and without wasting your precious time:
- Preparing The Pieces: You have to bring everything in the room where you want to assemble the crib. But remember not to move the crib when you finish assembling it. It may be difficult getting it through the door then.
- Unpack The Crib: Now unpack the crib as it will come in several pieces in a new packing box. Everything is in this box pack whatever you need to assemble a crib. Probably there will be no need for extra tools or things. If it requires a tool then you might need a screwdriver, hammer, ratchet set.
- Check Instructions: Check instructions and make sure you have all the pieces mentioned in the instruction. If anything is missing then simply call the store and exchange your crib with a new one. Most of the cribs come with tools like a headboard, footboard, rails, etc. Some kind of mattress support is made up of the board. There are also two long thin sideboards which help to give support between the headboard and footboard, especially when both rails move up and down.
- Check Condition: Check the condition of the pieces of your grip. Make sure that all the parts are well & no one is damaged, like splintered or peeling wood, etc. You should also check whether the crib is fully new or second hand.
- Read Instructions: carefully read instructions as every new thing which that you buy from the market come with the booklet known as instructions key.
- Online Instruction: Sometimes you lose the instruction key, don't worry you can read the instructions online by surfing the manufactures website and then search for your crib model. Since most of the cribs have the same basic pieces it is not difficult for you to figure out how to assemble a crib.
- Lay Headboard: Now lay down headboard on the ground with the side facing towards the crib. Now attach the latch brackets onto the side of the headboard. These brackets will help you to attach the headboard and footboard to the mattress support.
- Stationary Rails: Now attach the stationary rails to the headboard as well as footboard. Most stationary rails have dowels at the ends. You have to slide the dowels into the latch brackets on the headboard and footboard on one side of the crib and screw them to the crib tightly.
- Mattress Support: Now attach mattress support and make sure to attach it to the base of the crib. Slide that into an appropriate height and attach it to the headboard. Then attach the drop rail to the front of the crib. You should first attach the bottom of the rods on each side before attaching the tops to secure the rail. Now keep it ready while you are working.
- Check Crib Sound: Check the sound of the crib. Shake the crib to check where you assemble it right or not. It should not wobble while shaking it. You should not attach the drop side loose and should be able to slide up and down easily. There should be no hardware with the mattress. You can simply lower it and that too into the base of the crib and let it rest there.
- Wheels: Some cribs also have wheels on the bottom to make the crib easier to move from one place to another, you can also attach the wheels if you wish. You have to slide the wheels into the holes on the bottom of your four posts of the crib to make that crib more secure.
- Lock: You have to check here whether they are working properly or not and get locked when you lock them. There should be at least 2 wheels with lock to avert the crib from moving if you kept the baby inside.
