How To Repair Wooden Furniture Veneer
The veneer is a thin covering of fine wood which is fixed with glue on the surface of wooden furniture. When the wooden furniture is exposed in humidity for a long time it results in veneer crack, blister, or peel. Below are given some techniques that define how to repair blisters and cracks in veneer wooden furniture.1.Blisters/Bubble: The blisters that appear on the veneer surface can be destroyed by the process of heating. A sheet of wax paper and smooth cardboard is taken, and the cardboard is covered with a clean cloth and placed firmly on the surface of the veneer. Then blisters are pressed with a hot iron rod. After time to time, the surface is checked and when all the blisters are destroyed stop pressing the blisters. Then use wax and smooth the veneer surface.
2.Loose Veneer/Tabletop: If the veneer is loosened in any furniture product like tabletops, cabinets, etc then it can be attached again with the furniture by applying glue on it. Glue is applied on to the Base wood, and then the veneer is pressed and held together for strengthening.
3.Cracked Veneer: If the surface of the veneer is cracked then it can be repaired by applying glue on the cracked portion.
