Steps To Fix A Squeaky Wooden Bed Frame

Step 1: Finding The Cause

1. Remove Box Spring And Mattress: Firstly the users need to take away the box spring and mattress from the bed frame. The wooden base on which the mattress is placed is called the box spring. Place both the box spring and mattress on the floor surface.
2. Check The Mattress: Then next step is to check the mattress and find the cause of squeaking. Move on the mattress and if it squeaks then the mattress is the cause of squeaking.
3. Check Box Spring: Now analyze the box spring and check the squeaking sound in the box spring. Then apply pressure and move on the box spring, if there exists any kind of sound then the box spring is the cause of squeaking.
4. Rock The Post Of Bed Frame: Then shake the posts of the bed frame and exactly find the location of the squeaking because the squeaking sound may come from the place where the posts are attached with the bed frame.
5. Rock The Slats Of Bed Frame: Now the users need to check the wooden planks that are stretched within the bed frame. Apply pressure on the wooden planks and check the cause of squeaking.

Step 2: Stopping The Squeaking

1. Get The Right Tools: Gather all the tools that are needed while fixing the bed frame like for removing the screws use a screwdriver and for removing bolts use a wrench.
2. Tighten The Joint: The cause of squeaking in the bed frame is a loose joint. Take a screwdriver and tighten the bolts and screws that cause the squeaking sound in the bed frame.
3. Use A Washer: If the bolt does not tighten in the bed frame then the users can use a washer in between the bolt and the frame, the washer will fill the extra space.
4. Take Apart The Joint: If the squeaking sound still exists in the bed frame then remove the screws and bolts and separate the joints.
5. Use A Lubricant: Now the users need to use a lubricant at the joints of each component. The lubricants that can be used include paraffin, candle wax, WD-40, etc.
6. Reassemble The Bed Frame: Then reassemble the components of the bed frame and attach the bolts and screws at their proper locations and properly tighten them so that the bed frame does not cause any squeaking sound.
