Step 1: Repairing From Below

1. Identify The Source Of The Squeak: The users need to locate the cause of the squeak. In the hardwood floor, the squeak occurs when the plywood of the subfloor rubs with the floor joist. The users need to find the best way to fix the squeak on the floor.
2. Weight The Squeak From Above: The users need to compress the floorboards by placing the weight on the squeak to make the repair successful. The bag of salt, barbell weights or heavy books can be placed on the floor as a weight.
3. Attach A Brace: If the joist and subfloor are not tightly fixed, the issue of squeak sound can be resolved by using a brace.
4. Install Wood Shims: If the cause of squeak sound is a gap between the joist and subfloor, then the gap can be filled by inserting a wood shim into the gap to avoid the squeaking sound.
5. Screw The Subfloor: To securely fix the squeaking sound, the users can drill the holes into the floor and attach it with the subfloor by using the wood screws.
