Steps To Install Solid Hardwood Floor

Here are easy steps to install solid hardwood floor:

Choose Wood

  1. Solid Hardwood: Choose the best solid hardwood planks to install hardwood flooring in office or in the home. Solid hardwood floor planks last for a long period of time because they can be refinished and sanded many times. The solid hardwood floor planks cannot be installed in basements or in the bathroom because of the wood planks reactions to moisture.
  2. Engineered Wood: In the case when the solid hardwood is not suitable for the home then use engineered wood flooring. The engineered wood is used to make modern furniture. The engineered wood flooring can be installed anywhere at home.

Prepare For Installation

  1. Prepare Subfloor: The First step to install the solid hardwood floor that the subfloor must be ready for the work.
  2. Wood Acclimate: Wood Acclimation is necessary step to install solid hardwood boards. Leave the wood planks in the working area for nearly 2-3 hours to adjust the moisture level of the planks.
  3. Gather Tools: The user needs to collect all the required tools which is necessary to start a work and keep them in a safe place.

Install The Floor

  1. Lay Down: The user need to lay down the first board tongued-edge into the working area. For expansion now leave a small gap at wall.
  2. Nail The Boards: Use an electric machine driller to make a guide hole then nail the subfloor with a hammer. Nail from the groove side to the ends of the planks.
  3. Lock The Boards Together: Place the next plank on the subfloor to fit the tongue of first board with second one.
  4. Cut Boards To Size: Measure the size of area and gaps and cut the solid hardwood wood boards according to the taken size.
  5. Flooring Nailer: Now place a flooring nailer on the corners of the planks. Use a hammer to fit the nails.
  6. Use A Hammer: Fit the nails by using the hammer.
  7. Cut The Final Board To Size: Cut final piece of the wood planks according to the size of the corners.
  8. Using The Crowbar: The user needs a crowbar to place the final board.

Add Finishing Touches

  1. Add Baseboards: Trim baseboards are used after installing the solid hardwood floor. Trim baseboards is a type of molding.
  2. Use Putty To Cover Holes: Finally the user needs to use a nail putty with putty knife to fill the nails holes easily.
