How To Buff Wood By Hand: 3 Easy Methods

The wood can be finished by hand as well as with the help of the machines. Buffing wood with the hand requires to be done carefully.

3 Easy Methods To Buff Wood By Hand

As said above the wood buffing by hand involves different methods out of which some of them are mentioned below:

Method 1 - Wood Burnishing

This process is specifically done on the lacquered or penetrating oil polished wood surfaces. One Of The steps to burnish wood is mentioned below:
Denim Cloth: The wood needs to be rubbed with the denim jeans roughly for one or two minutes till the wood become warm. This will make surface lustrous and beautiful.

Method 2- By Hand

This buffing is particularly meant for the wood surfaces that require the deep finishing touch and can be only done on the unfinished wood surface. Follow the steps below to buff the wood surface by hand:
1.Boiled Linseed Oil: The boiled linseed oil is required to wet the cloth into the same.
2.Wipe: Apply the oil with the help of a damp cloth over the entire surface.
3.Dry: After application allow the oil completely soak into the wood and follow it by wiping using a dry cloth.
4.Linseed Oil Drops: Drop the little amount of the linseed oil over the hand palm and apply it over the surface and rub it till the wood feels warm. Keep the wood aside and repeat the process after every weak regular for the six months’ time period and cover the different areas of the surface every time.

Method 3- Mineral And Lemon Oil Buffing

The buffing of the wood can also be done using lemon and mineral oils. This type of buffing adheres well to the different types of surfaces including polyurethanes and shellacs. The buffing method is given below:
1.Damp Cloth: The clean piece of the cloth is required to be wet into the mineral or lemon oil in order to apply the oil over the entire wood surface.
2.Wipe Off: Once the wood seems wet wipe off the oil using another cloth for approximately three minutes till the wood shines again.

Note: Buffing using mineral/ lemon oil on the penetrating oil or paste wax finished surfaces is not recommended to use.
