Easy Way To Stain Wood
Staining on wood is the best way to give a fresh and new look to old and damaged furniture. Staining can also be done in different colors. So if the wood furniture looks old and damaged just follow the given steps carefully to easily give a new and bold look to the old furniture.
- Wood Filler: First of all, take the wood filler which suits the softwood surface. Latex Wood Filler is best to use. Wood is the best idea to repair the damaged furniture.
- Putty Knife: Make a paste of wood filler and apply it on the surface of the softwood with the help of a putty knife.
- Sand: By using the sandpaper the surface of the wood will be smooth and ready for work. So use the small grit sandpaper and rub it on wood by hand or the electric sander.
- Soak: After sanding the wood, now it’s time to clean the dust. Use a paper towel and dip it into the mineral spirits and clean the surface of the wood for a minimum 2-3 times.
- Apply: Now carefully apply 2-3 layers of wood stain with synthetic bristles brush. Synthetic bristles brushes works best for water-based stains.
- Examine The Surface: If there is any blotchy area after applying the wood stain then use a thin paintbrush over it.
Dry: Now let the wood stain dry for maximum of 24 hours. Leave the wood directly in sunlight or leave the fan open at full speed and let the wood dry under it.
