Three Easy Parts And Items Needed To Stain A Pine Door

The pinewood belongs to the category of the softwood and because of its uneven wood grain texture, it can be somehow a bit difficult to stain down the pine door. The pinewood is usually used in crafting the furnishing items and is even used to decorate the homes as well. The users can easily stain the pine door at home by gathering the below-mentioned materials and then following the below-mentioned parts with steps:

Part I- Sand And Seal The Pine Door

  • Use The Sandpaper Or Sanding Block: Start by sanding down the entire surface of the pine door by using the fine-grit sandpaper so as to remove all the uneven spots and to do so the users need to start rubbing the sandpaper in the round motions. They can also use the sanding block while removing the ridges from the pine door surface. The sanding process is important as it discloses all the pores within the wood surface that allow the paint to get adhered to it easily.
  • Use The 200- Grit Sandpaper: Once the users removed the rough surface from the pine door then they need to use the other 200-grit sandpaper and then rub it again over the entire surface of the pine door. The second sanding coat will make the pine door completely ready for the staining process. If the users are working with the raw pine door then they need to sand down the trimmed edges as well.
  • Scrub The Pine Door: The users then need to raise the wood grain of the pine door by scrubbing it with the soft sponge and to do so they need to soak the sponge in the clean water and then ooze out all the water and then rub the wet sponge over the entire outer area of the pine door. By rubbing the sponge over the pinewood it not only raises the grain but also cleans up all the dust and the debris particles over the pinewood surface.
  • Apply The Wood Conditioner: The users need to apply the 2 layers of the wood conditioner to the pinewood surface and then allow the first coat to get dried off completely before applying the second coat. They need to clean up the unneeded wood conditioner by using a soft clean cloth. Then they need to allow the wood conditioner layer on the pine door to get dried off completely for almost 3 hours before staining it.

Part II- Apply The Stain

  • Blot The Stain: Start by blotting the stain over the entire pine door surface and to do so the users need to soak up the little stain amount by using the brush or the scrap cloth and then transfer it directly over the pine door surface. The users are advised to spread the paint in the freaky circles or in the back and the forth motion by using gentle strokes. If the users want to attain the darker finish then they can get it easily by applying the extra coats in a gentle way. The users are advised to use the sponge brush while applying the stain to the edges or those places that are hard to reach.
  • Clean Up The Excess Paint: Then they need to clean up the unneeded stain by using the clean cloth and then allow the stain to get dried off completely. If in case the users are not satisfied with the door stain then they can also add up more layers of the stain and allow each coat to get dried off completely before applying the other layer.

Part III- Finishing Up The Pine Door

  • Examine The Wood: Start by examing the pine door so as to make sure that the stain is completely dried off. One of the easy ways to examine the dryness of the stain is by dabbing the stain with the fingers or by the paper towel as well and if the stain comes off then the stain is still not dried off properly. The users are advised that they should not apply the sealant to the wet stain as it can damage everything.
  • Wipe The Door: Once the stain is dried completely the users need to clean up the door surface by using the microfiber cloth so as to clean up the dust and the other debris items.
  • Apply The Varnish: Then they need to apply the 2 coats of the clear varnish layer to the entire surface of the pine door so as to prevent it from the normal wear and tear damage. Allow the first coat of the varnish to get dried off completely before applying the second coat respectively.
