7 Easy Steps To Seal Painted Wood

Outdoor furniture is mostly used in gardens or near the water pool, it gives a good look and comfort but sometimes the water of the pool, moisture, and direct sunlight and your outdoor furniture will become weak and you need to refinish it. Seal painted wood provides an indispensable layer of protective covering for outdoor furniture and decorative pieces and for indoor items such as desks, tables, and kitchen chairs that are commonly rough-and-tumble because of the use of everyday living. If you have outdoor furniture and you want to protect it and to extend the lifespan of your furniture then you have to follow the given items. Here are the steps:
  • Step 1- If you have recently painted your outdoor furniture then check that outdoor furniture is dry fully before following further steps because sanding process is necessary for sealing process.
  • Step 2- Grab a 220-320 grit sandpaper and then sand your outdoor furniture lightly, simply apply enough pressure to smooth any rough surface. Take a tack cloth and wipe the surface with it to remove dust from your furniture.
  • Step 3- Now dip your paintbrush in the can of your sealant and stir it gently if needed but don't stir too heavy and don't shake because it will create bubbles and wipe off any excess sealant from the brush.
  • Step 4- Now paint the sealant onto the surface of your outdoor furniture. Stroking from one edge to another edge, evenly and in one direction.
  • Step 5- After applying the sealant, leave it for 1-2 hours to dry completely or according the sealant product directions.
  • Step 6- After the sealant is dry now, sand the dried surface with 220-320 grit sandpaper and then remove the dust by using a tack cloth.
  • Step 7- After following the previous steps, now apply a second coat of your sealant on the outdoor furniture and let it dry for few hours and then again sand with 220-320 grit sandpaper. Do this process for 2 more coats but remember not to sand after the final coat. Now let the outdoor furniture dry for a whole night before using it.
