2 Easy Methods To Sand And Paint Outdoor Wood Furniture

Outdoor furniture is constructed up of different types of materials like plastic, iron, wood, and steel. Furniture makes our daily life easy like dining tables, chairs, beds. Different types of furniture are very useful in our daily life but wood furniture is the best option because the life span and durability of wood furniture is good if cared properly, still, after few years they look dirty and old but don't worry there are many types of solutions available to give them a new and shiny look. Here are the methods with steps to sand and paint your outdoor wood furniture, just follow the given steps carefully:

Method 1: Patching Up Any Damaged Wood

Here is the 1st method to do this job:
  1. First prepare your outdoor furniture by scrubbing the chipped, splintered, or dented timber by using a stiff wire brush to remove any loose wood chips and paint from your outdoor wooden furniture.
  2. After cleaning your wooden furniture now, apply waterproof glue to scrap any pieces and clamp it until the glue dries fully.
  3. Use a putty knife to spread a paste of wood filler over the damaged area on the wooden furniture and cover it completely.
  4. Smooth down the wood filler you've applied in the last step, until it is flush with the wood surface of your furniture and leave it to dry for a whole night.
  5. When the wood filler is dried fully now sand the patched area gently with sandpaper (220-grit), do this work carefully to hide the patched area.
  6. Finally, wipe off the sanding dust and residue by using a damp cloth and let it dry for few hours before applying primer.

Method 2: Painting Wooden Garden Furniture

Here is the 2nd method to paint your outdoor wooden furniture:
  1. First, scrape off all the large pieces of existing paint from the surface of your outdoor wooden furniture.
  2. Once done, now smooth all surfaces with sandpaper(100-, 120- or 180-grit), this work will depend on the level of sanding needed for your outdoor furniture. Start your work from 100 grit to 180 grit sandpaper.
  3. Wipe any dust and residue that comes after sanding from your furniture with a damp cloth.
  4. Apply 1 coat of exterior primer to the furniture by using a paintbrush. Use strokes in the assonant position according to the wood grain and allow it to dry completely. It may take up to 2-3 hours
  5. After your outdoor furniture dry, now apply one coat of paint(exterior) with a paintbrush and allow your outdoor furniture to dry completely. Apply additive coats, if needed, and allow your wooden furniture to dry completely before using the furniture.
