7 Easy Steps To Restore Chrome Furniture

Chrome furniture was particularly used in the previous(19th) century as they looked extremely good in our homes or in the offices, but nowadays chrome furniture is back in modern designs and different patterns but still this kind of furniture is not resistant to rust and water damage, if you have a chrome furniture which is damaged or rusted and you want to restore it anyhow then you need to follow the 7 easy given steps in order to finish this task. Here are the 7 easy steps to restore your chrome furniture:
  1. Test: First you need to test an unnoticeable part of the metal to determine whether old lacquer is part of the obtuseness & pitting problem. To do this you need to use steel wool (fine-grade) & lacquer remover. This will expose the shiny chrome underneath your furniture, In this case, simply apply a chrome polish to it.
  2. Remove: Remove rust from your chrome furniture by taking the help of naval jelly. Apply an average amount of your naval jelly as this type of jelly is very strong. Remember to use this jelly only on affected areas because this will weaken the areas which are not rusted. Now, sand the entire surface of your chrome furniture by using emery cloth or steel wool (very fine grade), such as 0000 steel wool.
  3. Wipe: Once done, wipe the chrome furniture with a soft clean cloth which is dipped in the mineral spirits. Never use water because it contains calcium and this will sit on metal surfaces that can be the main reason for stains.
  4. Masking Tape: Remove the seats & backs of your chrome furniture. Apply some masking tape around the parts of your furniture that are not chrome. This step is optional, if you have these type of furniture then do this, if not then leave this step.
  5. Spray: Now, you need to spray the chrome parts of your furniture with the help of a white primer(primer—preferably). Apply several coats of white primer and then let it dry thoroughly. Smooth the rough spots of your chrome with metal sandpaper (320-grit).
  6. Dry: Layer 2-3 coats of chrome spray paint because the appearance of chrome spray paint is very close to the original chrome color. Allow at least 2 hours betwixt each coat to get a proper shine of your chrome furniture.
  7. Lacquer Spray: Lacquer spray your metal in order to give it an extra protection against further rust & stains. Always try to use a water-based (lacquer spray). Wait for at least 5 days before putting your chrome furniture back together.
