  2. If you saw any cracks on the surface of your table then immediately fill any cracks with the help of a two-part wood filler such as Minwax (High-Performance Wood Filler). This wood filler dries speedily, minimizing downtime betwixt steps.
  3. Now you need to sand the entire surface of your Formica tabletop with sandpaper(220-grit). Smooth all the areas where you recently used the wood filler so that they will be even with the rest of the surface. By this sanding, process the surface of your tabletop will easily allow the oil-based primer to adhere on the surface of your Formica tabletop.
  4. Once done, now you need to wipe down the surface of your tabletop by using a wet cloth to remove all dust from the surface and then allow your tabletop to dry completely.
  5. When your tabletop is dry fully, now apply the primer over the entire surface of your tabletop with the help of a roller, and again dry the primer for a whole night before moving to next step.
  6. On the next day now, you need to apply a topcoat(oil-based ) by using a roller for the Formica tabletop and for the edges you need to use a brush.
  7. This is your final step, after applying the oil-based topcoat, allow your paint to dry for a whole night. Apply two more coats of polyurethane (oil-based) to protect the surface of your Formica tabletop.
