- First you need to wash the tabletop thoroughly with the mixture soap and warm water. Simply mix equal amount of both ingredients in a water bucket and wash your table with a soft clean cloth and then let it fully dry for few minutes.
- If you saw any cracks on the surface of your table then immediately fill any cracks with the help of a two-part wood filler such as Minwax (High-Performance Wood Filler). This wood filler dries speedily, minimizing downtime betwixt steps.
- Now you need to sand the entire surface of your Formica tabletop with sandpaper(220-grit). Smooth all the areas where you recently used the wood filler so that they will be even with the rest of the surface. By this sanding, process the surface of your tabletop will easily allow the oil-based primer to adhere on the surface of your Formica tabletop.
- Once done, now you need to wipe down the surface of your tabletop by using a wet cloth to remove all dust from the surface and then allow your tabletop to dry completely.
