Steps

Here are the 6 steps to repair your burnt wood:
  • First you need to clean your wood surface with the help of mineral spirits & a dry rag. Mineral spirits help dry your wood almost immediately.
  • Take a sanding block(200 grit) and remove as much of the burned wood as possible. Sand over the burn according to the grain direction of your wood. Take care to prevent non-damaged areas or make a deeper hole in your wood.
  • Next, rub the burnt section of your wood with a paste which is made of equal parts of rotten stone(powdered limestone used as an abrasive polish), & linseed oil. Use a soft cloth to lightly work the paste into burnt area of the wood. Work according to the wood's grain while using this paste. Wipe up the mixture by using a damp cloth, & repeat this process if needed until the burned mark disappears from your wood.
  • Now you need to heat a wax stick used to patch burned area of the wood with a special or lighter hot patch knife if 2nd does not fully alleviate your problem then you need to allow the melting wax to drip into the burned mark of your wood and fill it a small past capability.
  • Heat a spatula blade & then work the wax into the damaged area of your wood to create your surface smooth. If indispensable then go over the wax with a razor blade to ensure an even surface of your wood.
  • Finally clean your wood surface again with the help of mineral spirits, then apply 3 coats of tung oil in order to refinish your wood. Allow this oil to dry for almost 24 hours betwixt each coat application. Buff your wood with a soft clean cloth following the last 24-hour period for a shiny surface of your wood.
