The hardwood floor planks are made up of the different types of wood such as cherry, oak, teak, and other such types of wood. Some of the wood types has good properties of water and moisture resistance but some have less and that is the reason why your hardwood floor gets stains, cracks or damaged within a short period of time. Dehydration is also a big problem for your hardwood floor because it can reduce the life of your floor. Method 1- Clean Up the Floor

Here are the steps to rehydrate your hardwood floor by cleaning the floor:
  • Firstly you need to clean hardwood floor because you cannot work on the surface which has dust & dirt on it. Simply take a broom and sweep it on your hardwood floor in order to clean the trash & dust from it. If there is any type of furniture or other things then move it to another place.
  • Make a homemade solution before wiping effectively. Take 10 parts of water and 1 vinegar and mix it in a bucket and stir well.
  • Grab damp cloth and then dip it into the created mixture and wipe your hardwood floor gently until it gets clean entirely. Remember to remove stains and dust from the surface of your hardwood floor.
  • After finishing the previous step, take a dry cloth and wipe the floor with it and leave your floor to dry completely.

Method 2- Revitalize the Dried Floor

  • If you want to implement rehydration for your hardwood floor then you can use 2 types of urethane, first is Water-based Polyurethane and the second is Oil-modified Urethane. This product will help you to rehydrate and give back the old shine of your hardwood floor. Read the product instruction in order to work with these items.
  • Always protect your wood floor from direct sunlight, as the rays of the sun can easily damage your wood floor like it can ruin your finishing surface color and dry the floor and other minor damages. Close your windows coverings and use curtains to keep your floor safe.
  • You need to observe the humidity level of your home, to do this you need to buy a hygrometer. For the proper calibration and to use the machine in a proper way then you must read the instructions carefully which is mentioned on the meter. The popular humidity level is 50%.
  • You may also change the humidity of your home. Buy a humidifier that can easily improve the moisture of your home. If you think that you cannot buy this humidifier then simply a pot of boiling water on the gas stove will be the best alternative to humidifier because it can get rid of the dryness in your room.

  • Remember not to apply water directly on your hardwood floor because it can ruin the wood easily which results in mold.
  • Adding moisture to air can be more helpful in order to protect your wood floor.
  • Check if the humidity level is above 60% then it will create ideal condition for mildew and mold to develop.
