Easy Steps To Paint Wooden Mirror Frame

In order to paint a wooden mirror frame, follow the below mentioned steps one by one carefully:
  1. Clean The Frame: The first step is to clean the frame with the help of the damp rag or cloth, its very important to clean any dust or dirt that has been build upon the frame. Clean the frame gently without damaging it.
  2. Objects: Remove objects from the frames like any decorative items, hooks, hinges, etc. The user can paint these objects but for the good look take them off.
  3. Size Of The Glass: After removing the objects measure the size of the mirror glass, simply use a measuring tape to get the length and breadth of the glass.
  4. Newspaper Or Packaging Paper: After the measurement are done the next step is to cut the newspaper or packaging paper, try to cut the newspaper or packaging paper according to exact measurements. Simply mark out the size with the pencil and ruler for the extra safety cut outside of the marked line.
  5. Tape The Paper: Now tape the paper on the mirror glass, if the paper doesn't fit well then make adjustments, use the painter's tape for this step.
  6. Sanding: Now it is time for sanding the frame, the users are advised to use the normal pressure while sanding the frame. The sanding will help to make the entire frame smooth. If the frame has the different layers that time use the 60 grit sandpaper for small layers use the 100 grit paper.
  7. Wipe The Frame: Once the sanding is done then go for the wiping process to clean all the debris of sanding, wipe the frame with the damp cloth.
  8. Priming: Now the frame is ready for priming, use the flat-headed brush for priming the frame or a small roller can also be used for the priming. Use the oil-based primers that work well on the wood, for the softwood use the latex-based primer. Let the primer dry then go for the second coat. Once both coats are applied then let it dry for almost overnight.
  9. Again Sanding: After the primer is completely dry then start the sanding process with the 100 grit paper again use the light pressure. After that wipe the sanding dust with a damp cloth.
  10. Type Of Paint: Its very important to buy the right type of the paint like Latex or oil-based paints that work best on wooden frames.
  11. Apply The Paint: Use the flat or tapered brush for the paint. For the best looking results use the thin coats of the paint and even coats. Give the first coat enough time to dry it's very important that the first coat should be completely dried before going for the second coat.
