Step By Step Process To Apply Acrylic Paint On A Wooden Chair
If you have a wooden chair that looks dull, you can apply acrylic paint to it in order to make it look glossy & attractive. To do this, you need to collect certain items first & then go through the step by step process carefully mentioned below & achieve the desired result of your work:
Items Needed
- Mild Detergent, Sponge & Cloths
- Paint Scraper & Assorted Grit Sandpaper(80 to 250)
- Tack Cloth, Mineral Spirits & Knotting Solution
- Paintbrushes & Water-Based Acrylic Primer
- Acrylic Paint & Foam Brush
- Brown Paper Bag & Finishing Glaze
Step By Step Process
- First and foremost, you need to cleanse the wood chair from top to bottom with the help of warm, soapy water and a mop, if in case it already has a coat of paint. Hose down the wood and then allow it to dry completely with a cloth.
- Now, strip off already present old paint from the wooden chair with the help of a paint scraper. You can also use sandpaper(150-grit) to assist in eliminating the paint. For bare wood, start the work with 80- to 100-grit sandpaper and then with the finer grits, like 220 or 250. Make sure to sand in wood grain's direction.
- Next, rub the chair with the help of a tack cloth or slightly damp cloth to get rid of any dust that has occurred due to the sanding process. You can also use a cloth soaked with mineral spirits. Make sure that the wood dries completely if in case you use a damp cloth.
- Paint pine with one even coat of secured solution with the help of a paintbrush. Give it the time as mentioned on the instruction label in order to make it dry completely.
- Then, spread one thin coat of water-based acrylic primer with the help of a paintbrush. Apply another coat after the first one dries completely. Let the other coat also to dry fully.
- With the help of a foam brush, now apply a thin as well as even coat of acrylic paint. Give it some time to dry completely. Buff the surface with the help of a squeeze brown paper bag in order to make the area smooth. You can also gently sand it with sandpaper(220 grit). Apply one or two more paint coats and allow each coat to get dried off completely.
- Finally, apply one coat of finishing glaze with the help of a paintbrush and give it the time to dry completely.
