How To Install Ball Bearing Drawer Slides: Steps To Install Ball Bearing

Steps To Install Ball Bearing Drawer Slides

If you want to install ball-bearing drawer slides then you need to follow all the given steps to finish this task successfully. Here are the steps now:
  • Measuring from the inside floor of your cabinet and mark at the height of 8 1/4 inches near the front & back of each sidewall. Using the marks & a straightedge, draw a level line across the wall on each inside wall of your cabinet. Now you need to mark on each line that's 7/8 inch from the front edge of the cabinet. This allows room for the thickness of the drawer front plus a 1/8-inch inset.
  • Align with the bottom edge of the first slide above the line. Now, position the front edge of the slide behind the mark near the face of your cabinet.
  • Holding the slide firmly in place, push the expansion ahead until both sets of screw holes are visible. By using a drill/driver, drill shallow pilot holes in one screw hole near the front & back of the slide. Now, using the screws provided, mount the slide to the inside of your cabinet. Repeat steps 2 & 3 to mount the 2nd drawer slide on the opposite side of your cabinet.
  • Now, use a tape measure and then mark the center of the height of your drawer box on its outer sidewalls. Using a straightedge, mark a crosswise line along the outside of your drawer box on each side.
  • Next, remove the detachable section of each drawer slides & place it on the reciprocal drawer side. Position the slides so that they are centered on their corresponding line & flush with the face of the drawer box.
  • Now you need to use a drill/driver & the screws provided with the drawer slides, mount the slide to your drawer.
  • Hold your drawer level in front of your cabinet. Place the ends of your slides attached with your drawers into the tracks inside the cabinet. Pressing evenly on each side of your drawer, slide the drawer into place. The first slide inward can erstwhile push a bit tougher, but once the tracks are engaged, the drawer should slide back out & in smoothly.
  • Now, apply the wood glue to the face of your drawer box. With the drawer closed, position your drawer face with equal gaps along the top & side edges. By using the clamps, secure your drawer face against the drawer box.
  • Finally, carefully slide the drawer open & then drive 1-inch screws through with the holes in the drawer box & into the backside of the drawer face to secure it in place.
