Step By Step Process Of Cutting Metal Carpet Transition Strip

Metal transition strips are usually used to connect or link up two types of flooring in order to provide a simple & well-ordered transition betwixt the two materials. There are various types of transition strips available in different material types, among which the most common type is the metal transition, which is regarded as the best option when you are looking to join vinyl-flooring materials. Metal transitions generally climb or move up onto the substrate with screws, however, it is also allowed to glue them into place. You can also use transition strips betwixt rooms on the interior of a house, for instance, the transition betwixt two different flooring materials, like carpet to hardwood. Transition strips are available in various sizes as well as materials, metal being one of those materials. Due to the reason that all the doorways, as well as openings between rooms, are not the same sizes, therefore, metal transition strips mostly need to be cut to size. You only need a few tools when it comes to cutting a metal transition strip. By positioning the transition or floor joint in a doorway, the door protects or conceals the transition when it is closed. The majority of the metal transitional strips need cutting them to length during a typical installation.

  1. First of all, calculate & evaluate the size of the doorway or other area where the transition strip will be located with the help of a tape measure. Move the tape measure smoothly from one end to the other and take note of the measurement.
  2. Now, calculate that same distance on the transition strip before marking the cut location with the help of a black marker. Draw a straight line through the strip with the help of a marker.
  3. Next, put down the transition strip on a flat surface before pressing a hacksaw in opposition to the mark. Take hold of the one end of the transition strip with the help of your left hand and press down smoothly on the hacksaw using your right hand.
