There are so many easy ways in order to build a dresser drawer at your home yourself. You don't need any table saw or router for this process. Follow the below-mentioned steps to make the dresser yourself at your home:
  1. Cut The Parts: Firstly, you need a miter saw, through which you have to cut the square dowels of size 1x6, 1x3 respectively. Now take plywood and mark cutline on its face by using a framing square. Apply painter's tape over the lines that you cut & then mark it again if necessary. Painter's tape will help you to keep the plywood away from splintering during the cut. Now use circular saw and cut along the lines. To remove burrs you need to lightly sand the cut edges of all the parts.
  2. Drill The Pocket Holes: Now you have to place the 1x3 on the work surface. You need to use a Kreg jig, drill two pocket holes at the end of both boards.
  3. Drill The Drawer Face Holes: 1x6 drawer face needs to get placed on the workspace and you have to face down the pocket holes. Use a tape to measure and a pencil, now mark 2 places of 4 inches from end to end of the board, centered on its width. Drill or driver will help you to create two pilot holes. These pilot holes will help you later to attach the drawer face.
  4. Add Cleats To The Front And Back Pieces: Now use an 18-inch cleat on the 1x3 front and back pieces flush with their bottom edges and ends. You need here a wood glue to reposition it and nail it with the help of a nail gun and 3/4 inch finish nails.
  5. Attach Cleats To The 1×3 Side Pieces: Keep the remaining cleats on the 16 inch long sides flush with the bottom edges and should be centered on their lengths. Remember this should create 1 1/8 inch inset on the ends of each cleat. Use pencil and mark the ends of the cleat with it. Now get rid of the cleats, apply wood glue and then keep it back on its place. You have to use nails of 3/4 inch with the help of nail gun .
  6. Dry fit The Sides: Cleats should run along with their bottom edge and for this you need to set the 1x3 pieces upright. Here you have to apply the glue now to the ends of the front and back pieces and then place them on the position betwixt the sides, then flush it on the ends.
  7. Assemble The Sides: No need to use the fancy tools, you just need to use a basic method for holding the joints square during assembly. Simply you have to place a block of the square corner then clamp it tightly to each side. This will help you to hold the pieces while inserting and driving the screws 1 1/4 inch through the pocket holes. You will see all four corners are assembled, now check and even recheck that the assembly is square or framing square and measure it corner to corner.
  8. Insert The Plywood Base: Wood glue is again needed here apply wood glue to all the top edges of the cleat. Place the plywood inside the frame on the cleats.
  9. Attach The Drawer Face: Finally you need to center the front of the drawer on the 1x6 face. This totally depends on your application, place the drawer face on the below drawer box. Use a pencil and mark the placement of the drawer on the 1x6, and then calmly remove the drawer. Again here apply glue inside that area which you marked with the help of pencil and change the position of drawer. Use a drill now or a driver, now drive 1-inch small pilot holes and fit screws on the drawer's front and backside on its face.
