How To Make A Necktie Pillow: Proper Procedure Of Making A Necktie Pillow

Proper Procedure Of Making A Necktie Pillow

Make a throw pillow out of a collection of old ties that you won't be wearing again. Before transforming the ties into the pillow, you can simply clip off any damaged or worn sections if you have any ties. Use a variety of ties in the same color family or mix and match colors and patterns. Use cotton for the back and ties all over the cushion (or just the front). A lot of neckties can be up-cycled at once with the necktie pillow cover. This undertaking would also create a fantastic memory pillow. This can be a wonderful way to honor a loved one who left behind many ties if you have one. Additionally, this pillow is simple to construct. Depending on your skill, you can do it in 30 minutes or less. The pillow will appear more entertaining the more interesting the ties you employ. Depending on the size of the pillow you wish to cover, you can change the amount of ties you use. You'll need some thread that coordinates with your ties. You'll need a pillow to size your cover off of and roughly a yard of woven cloth. You only need a few other essential sewing tools, such as pins, a sewing machine, scissors (or a rotary cutter), a mat, and a ruler.

Step 1: Measure Pillow Form And Cut Out Pillow Fabric

Measure your fabric and cut it out first. I advise you to measure the pillow form that will be covered by your pillow cover. If your pillow cover is slightly larger or smaller than 20" by 20," you might need to alter it. If your pillow is 20" by 20," you should cut ONE 21" x 21" and TWO 21" x 15" rectangles.

Step 2: Prep The Back Of The Pillow Cover

To ensure a neat finish, you should hem the back pieces before you actually begin building the cushion. Simply fold the long side of one of the two back panels down by about 12" and then another 12" to create the hem. Secure the edge with a pin, and then repeat for the opposite piece. To secure the hem in place, sew a straight stitch down the length of the hem using your sewing machine. Use an inseam of 1". For both backs, finish this process.

Step 3: Layout Ties

Next, arrange the ties in the desired design. Place the front pillow cover first on your desk. The knots should then begin to be positioned on the front pillow cover. Place the first knot so that its bottom is in a pillow cover corner and its top is at a diagonal corner. After that, begin arranging the ties so that their ends are touching and facing the same way. Once the front pillow cover is entirely covered, keep adding ties to it.

Step 4: Sew Ties Together

The ties will then be fastened, and you will begin stitching them together one by one. Start by pinning or clipping the first tie's right side to the right side of the second tie. Next, fold the second tie over toward the third tie so that the right sides are facing each other, and pin or clip the two ties together. Once all of the ties are pinned or clipped together, keep going back and forth between the two. You will sew the ties to keep them in place once you have assembled all of them. The clipped or pinned ties should be sewn together with a straight stitch and a 14" inseam.

Step 5: Trim Ties And Sew To Front Pillow Case Cover

The front pillow cover should be placed on top of the neckties, front side down, on a cutting mat. Cut the excess edges off the ties using the rotary cutter to make them match the front pillow cover's edges. Attach the front pillow cover to the ties using a clip or pin. Use a straight stitch and a 14" inseam to sew or serge the ties to the front pillow cover.

Step 6: Construct Pillow Cover

Lay the front pillow cover with the right side up and the ties on top. With the edge of the back cover aligned with the edge of the front cover, place one side of the back cover right side down. The other side of the initial rear cover should receive the second one. All over the pillow, use clips or pins. Use a straight stitch and a 14" inseam to sew or serge all the way around the pillow.

Step 7: Finish Pillow

The cushion should now be turned right side out through the flap. To completely fill the pillow cover, stuff the pillow form through the rear flap. That's all, then! You now own a cute statement item that will spark lots of discussion. Additionally, you'll feel good knowing that you revived some outdated ties.
